I have opinions about programming like, one of my consistent onesis that shell scripts should use BOURNE syntax and not BASH.But but but, that is like an ideal. When I see people "getting stuff done" with a bash script,I am like hell yeah!Similar with JS. I am very hard on that language and don't likethe complexity and subjectivity of it and typescript :(.But again that's an ideal. When I see people getting stuffdone in JS, i'm like hell yeah!

"well, I certainly feel thankful ..."Yeah metoo! I don't like when people think they can sorta conjure upa pass for themselves with optics. I see it too much. Saying you'rethe good guy does not make you the good guy. And acting as the badguy certainly makes you the bad guy.ALSO ALSO ...Saying you will be better before being better is a major red flag.Indicating a continuing pattern of toxic behaviour.Pro tip ... get better and then wait a year and then apologize.Doing reparations work isn't easy.CC: @Bogusmeatfactory@dosgame.club @lori@hackers.town

I just watched Pantheon. It was good. Scavengers Reign was better.Weirdly I need to consider shows parables sometimes to not be annoyed bythem. So Pantheon to me was not realistic, but Scavengers Reign was :)

Recently one of the upper managers at my IT job used LLM to weigh in on technical discussion. They irony was mind blowing, but also no one else seemed to see it. Most of my peers havedranken the LLM koolaid. So this upper level manager basically proved by specific examplethat they could be replaced by an LLM. Also they were wrong in the specific instance. So anyways this cartoon is 100% facts. And clean up is the real work and it's never accounted for, but always done oneway or the other. Typically by some good worker that just wants to do the rightthing and on their own time.

I was at one of those hands-off rallies and a person speaking was lamenting the lossof all of the US's "soft power" from the USAID thing.I had mixed feelings...I was guessing they were mixing the notions of actual foreign aid, andthe strong arming that comes with it. I thought "soft power" meantthe strong arm part. Or at least aid+control together.I am not an expert.

I want to quit my computer programming job so bad.Reasons:My job has devolved into only working with AI and LLMs.And the worst part is the team leader is an AI zealot andbasically a vibe coder. I really care about computer programming.Like it's also what i do for fun hobbies. Also I have moral issues with teh current crop of AI/LLM technologies. And it is not lost on me that I am a part of it by working in it.I know I am supposed to get a job BEFORE I quit, but thatrarely works for me. I don't have the spoons to job searchwhile my current job is making me so depressed.I have some savings, and I also am looking for local jobs thataren't IT related. I can do LOTS of things. Restaurant/kitchen work.Grocery store product management. (like stocking and inventory etc.)I was good at doing maintenance at a ski resort. So should I just quit and ride on my savings until i get another job?I don't know what will happen to money anyways so maybe I shoulduse some of it up while it still has value ?I have lots of work I can do on my house if I am not working at a miserablejob. This will be the second time in my life i wasn't employed, and lasttime it was wonderful. The problem this time is if i quit I don't getunemployment, but like i said I have some savings. I have enough in mybank to pay off my house if i needed to, and then some more.

Also saying "that's what the fascists want" as a way to tell youwhat to do is also non-sensical.You don't plan around what the enemy does or does not want. You plan for what YOU WANT.That pattern above is always (IME) a way to strongarma position w/o backing it up with a solid argument.*Caveat: Of course it is good to consider what fascists want. But don't fool that with it being a compelling argumenton how to act.

Yeah idk, I'm prepared to say I have more experience than I do in C.Also C++. But I do have more experience in c++.For the longest time I wrote off C because (i thought) itwas a subset of C++. But now that I have been immersed in itthey seem like two diff langs to me.Oh anyways I was doing python dev and I don't think there's as muchwork there as there was. I could also go back to java and be happytoo. I only had the one python job, but I was so soured by gettingforced to work in LLMs that python might be dead to me.(Lots of the LLM BS is in python, and python is the one that i think LLMcan generate the best. (best is subjective))I mean getting a job in commonlisp ... swoon.Or even Scheme, Janet, Golang, Elixir ... but I'm guessing those are really niche.IDK the hiring and interview process is awful to me, so I am timid :P

OK I'm having attention problems on doing the advent of code in c...So I'm playing with zig. It's very good. I like that C is a first class citizen. This is what i want more than anything, because I don't feel like C is somethingthat can just be replaced. Like any new (systems) language needs to move pastC by going THRU it.

C++ is weird for me because it is the first real language I learned. And I sort of group it with Java as an overly complex language. But lately I am seeing like Python and Rust be so complex, that Imight prefer the devil that I know that is C++. Like C++ has supportin living systems so it's useful. (like C basically)

Learning rust, hare, and zig has made me like C more :PIn the case of hare and zig (I like them both) it's becauseof the ubiquity of C that makes me like it.It's funny to me that I have always known C++ so kinda byextension C. (with caveats i know)But only recently have I really dived into C and levelingup. So it's a new language to me. And I have years of experiencewith languages and tradeoffs. Like I am not an idealist youngperson anymore, C is just fine.Or put another way... I will be dead if I wait for the C replacement.(For me it's not rust, plz don't suggest it.)#C #hare #zig

In my serious studies the firmament was the shield that made theearly bible figures able to live so long (like Methusalah), andit's also the source of the flood waters, and that's why afterthe flood we don't live as long as they did. I mean it's makestoo much sense to not be true.

The firmament is made of water and it is where all the watercame from for Noah's flood. Before the flood, the firmament shield us from space raysthat made us age. Now we age.CC: @lagowski@mastodon.sdf.org
