At the end of the day though, I think I'm just going to use TextEdit which is already on there.I'm writing markdown files anyway. Wonder if I can write/save a .md file... 🤔

In the meantime, I stumbled across this gem.https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/multi-ad-creator-4This was the first desktop publishing software I used back in the late 90s. All my graphic design chops were honed in this cumbersome piece of software.(It actually had some really neat features!)

Have I ever mentioned my dad's off the chart paranoia around passwords? In a reverse of what seniors are usually like, my father refuses to use a password manager (he doesn't trust them) and instead writes these complex encryption codes on a business card he keeps in his wallet. And you have to know the key, which is also based on a personally invented code, in order to get to his passwords. When he dies I will NOT be able to access anything he's encrypted and I'm gonna be screwed.Oh, and he CHANGES THE CODES EVERY MONTHME: DAD PLEASE USE 1PASSWORDHIM: Nah, here's a business card with a 10 digit alpha code that is the first 2 initials of what I ate for lunch last Tuesday that forms the keywords for my new passwords.

Got a new audio interface that's pretty fancy, well at least compared to the shitty $20 one that just crapped out on me.I may have spent the last 2 hours mucking around with sounds in GarageBand.

@bananarama For sure. I'm slowly escalating from "let me see if this hobby is gonna stick" to now "okay, I want to experiment with some recording and have it sound pretty good".Anything beyond that, I shift to one of my partners's better rig.

@wizard I started with the LYT kit, but modified it for my own use. the Map of Content idea has been useful as well as tagging things. I have also separated out some streams of information, like notes for the book I’m writing, into separate vaults so my second brain is partitioned. https://notes.linkingyourthinking.com/%2B+Start+Here

Just heard someone talking in an interview and the phrase "I'm just a kid from Jersey" was spoken by someone highly accomplished in their field and relatively famous. It's so interesting to me that this is a thing so many of us from the garden state say. It's like a thing, we all say it. It's like we have this compulsion towards humility so no one thinks we're being a jerk off.

Was thinking this morning about the local music scenes here in the NYC/NJ area in the early aughts (I'm writing a book in that period, so it's on my mind a lot).I find it so interesting that there was the NYC scene with it's own sound and vibe (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Strokes, Interpol, etc) and only a few miles away NJ had a completely different scene producing very different sounding music (MCR, Thursday, Midtown, etc).Like, I highly doubt something like that could happen again. First off, you need a concentration of musicians large enough to form enough bands to support a scene and then it has to go on long enough for a particular vibe to emerge (likely from folks swapping in and out of bands).Does this kind of scene even exist anymore? It feels like every new band springs out of a virtual scene of some kind or like a spontaneous thing.

@adamasnemesis Agreed! I wonder how that's playing out in more suburban or smaller cities.Like, the NJ scene was based in towns all over the state, sometimes near a college, but sometimes it was just some random town where a bunch of kids got together and started playing and made it happen, very grass roots.Sure, it's got NYC proximity, but the shows were primarily in people's basements, VFW halls, firehouses, etc.I wonder if it's still out there, just so much quieter since major labels don't take risks to pay attention to that kind of thing anymore.

The tung oil finish is going on the guitar. Before and after, the wood definitely got darker and it’s gorgeously brought out the wood grain. Kinda terrified of the warnings on how to dispose of the rags and such I’ve used to apply the finish. Currently looking up exactly how likely spontaneous combustion actually is.

Took a few minutes to get some better shots of the guitar. It's so pretty I still can't believe I built this thing.

Costs of running @lunastation are going up by about $40/month and we don't really have the budget for that. I can make it work somehow, but I would much rather put that towards paying our authors more. Alas I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. (sigh)If you've ever thought of buying an issue or two or doing continued support on Patreon or Buy Me A Coffee, here are some links:https://www.patreon.com/lunastationhttps://www.buymeacoffee.com/lunastationhttps://lunastationpress.gumroad.com/#boostswelcome

I don't think I've watched Clerks in at least 5 years. Did a rewatch after getting home last night. I'm now awash in feelings because damn, I knew people like that. That whole movie is just peak NJ in 1994. Kevin Smith is a few years older than me. Gerard and Mikey Way of MCR did a podcast with him a long time ago (they're a few years younger than me) where they talked about NJ in this time period and it's just wild how I connect with all those folks on this shit. For better or worse (really a bit of both), it's a world that doesn't exist anymore. I doubt Clerks would get made now. I don't think the music scene around at the time would have happened now.I don't want to be old man yells at clouds or start sounding like my grandparents yet, but wow, there was some stuff back then that really made me who I am now. That stuff is only memories or trapped in amber in my Vertigo comics and in Kevin Smith movies. RIP the Route 1 Flea Market. At least the Quick Stop still lives on.

So frustrated. There used to be an example website like the CSS Zen Garden, but for epub stylesheets and I cannot find it anywhere now. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and has a link, send it to me?
