@masek @isotopp I agree with you that ad-targeting has to be banned. But those algorithms are not only used for ads. They are used to keep you in doom-scrolling-mode and prolonging your jump-off. This is the currency which is sold - the time you are staying on the site by baiting you with more and more subconscious demanded content. Resulting in selling 15 instead of one ad.

@divVerent I thought we were talking the commercial networks like facebook/insta/linkedin whatever.Did not think about the Mastodon timeline (which is ad free asfaik). Mastodon has an absolute predictable and explainable Algo for your timeline. You see stuff from your instance, shared or boosted by its users sorted by interaction-date and filtered by individual blocking rules.If an inappropriate post is showing up, you can block the creator, the complete source-instance or the interacting user. The root of a post is explainable and can be examined.That's not the case on commercial networks.

The question was about targeted-ads and what would be possible scenarios to prevent data-harvesting and selling which then is used to catch and keep people inside the golden cage of private networks.How would you deal with corporations using selling beauty-ads targeted to teenagers that recently deleted their profile picture?Or timeline-algos that are amplifying extremist views and fake-news even when the user is not interacting at all with other posts?Would you give up on this and leave the field without a fight against companies selling our democratic and social values?

@wolf480pl Alternatively build a society that really cares about refugees and gives them a perspective to stay in the EU.Just like Spain did/does - which has since then become the strongest growing economy in the EU.

@dobiko Alternativen zu Amazon: Buchladen vor Ort! ;-)Es gibt Portale wie Kaufland.de oder Otto.de, die meistens genau so günstige Angebote haben.Ansonsten natürlich möglichst lokal oder direkt bei einzelnen Händlern. Ich habe letztes Jahr mein Amazon Konto endgültig gelöscht.Es gibt einfach kein "billigeres" Angebot, das es in irgendeiner Form rechtfertigt bei einem Laden einzukaufen, der Faschismus unterstützt, dem die Umwelt komplett egal ist und sowieso auf alles sch... was kein Geld bringt oder ausgebeutet werden kann.Wusstest Du z.B., das ICE Zugriff auf die Überwachungskameras von "Ring" (ein Amazon Produkt) hat und somit jeden Passanten in den USA beobachten kann?

@dobiko Meine sieben Kunden konnte ich glücklicherweise von lokalen Anbietern überzeugen. Wir sind komplett von aws und azure weg. Selbst eine eingesetzte KI wird lokal in schwedischer Cloud gehostet.Dat geit alles und ist am Ende sogar günstiger geworden.@Aron
