What he's doing is eerily similar to what happened to Freenode when it was bought over by Lee. With Twitter, it's just happening on a 1e6 times larger scale.

C++23 is set to introduce std::unreachable(), an operator explicitly defined to invoke undefined behavior for all your the times you would like to invoke some more undefined behavior in your C++ programs.https://mariusbancila.ro/blog/2022/11/08/three-new-utility-functions-in-cpp23/#programming #cpp

@piggo very good, large singular instances are a problem for the overall network.

Also, just so state it clearly and once and for all, CW on the Fediverse stands for "C++ Warning".In this essay I will

#fediblock @ threadunroller@mastodon.social has made it to the Fediverse.Thread readers scrape content without the consent of the creator, move it to a website outside of the creator's control, and sometimes monetise it, as discussed here:https://twitter.com/erynnbrook/status/1099086911463800832Since it's a scraper bot, it's suspended from the Functional Café.

@captainepoch @anthracite Or use a differently configured instance; no need to switch away from Mastodon if you like it. Functional Café (which admittedly uses the glitchsoc fork) has a 2500 character limit for toots.

@newt fine; I don't care. One thing is the technical fact that my public posts can be scraped, another is that I aren't going to allow that sort of behavior on the little Fediverse turf that I am a moderator of.

@nancampbell somewhat related trivia: as someone who wrote a programming book and published it with Apress/Springer, I found out when it actually hit the shelves because someone let me know there was a pirated PDF circulating the Web on the very day it was officially released.Fun stuff.

@privacyint Putting the contents of your whole post in the image description doesn't have any benefit and misleads people who use screen readers. The list of Twitter mentions also does not work here.If you've decided to have a Fediverse presence, can you actually adapt to it, rather than just blindly dumping a copy everything you post on Twitter?

@cwebber it's kinda complex yanno first you gotta combine goblins and sprites and three dozens of cheap $5 linode instances and all sorts of unfathomable magical words like XML and HTTP and WYSIWYS and then actually pay a real real wizard with a long beard and a magical banhammer to come over and perform the actual casting for youand then boom the enchantment is made and you can perform your daily religious rites of online shitposting

@ThePaulMcBride I'd rather my content lived on a server where the admins and moderators of that server are making enough money to cover their costs. That's literally called "donations". There's more than enough money to keep our instance running right now, for example, even after that major growth of the Fediverse from the past weeks. I'd rather throw a few bucks at my admin than have them introduce any sort of advertisements on my instance, thank you.@aral

@ThePaulMcBride @aral From my experience people are willing to pay to keep their instances running and a huge lot of users will prefer donations to selling themselves via ads. If money ever gets really tight, there's plenty of ways to run software that uses even less resources, e.g. Pleroma. But again, small Mastodon servers are sustainable enough - I'm using one as my home instance right now.

@aral Dropping this 1M means that 90% of the Fediverse, according to https://fediverse.observer/stats, can still reach you. So, I call bullshit.I hate Eugen's approach as much as you do, but please stop spreading FUD.

@babumenos @aral @karinC77 And since I've earned myself a block from Aral: No, I've only written you've made a conscious lie; you've written all the rest. Fediverse is not centralized, and you claiming otherwise is, honestly, not "working to make things better" by my standards.I have no other problems with your work and I appreciate it. Just, please, don't spread bullshit like this. And, as @babumenos wrote above, if you're looking for followers by posting clickbait and bullshit, have you considered Twitter instead?

In today's episode of What The Fuck, Techbros:https://github.com/madewithaiTheir website at https://madewithai.netlify.app/ allows ANYONE on the web to invite arbitrary GitHub users to their madewithai organization. This already happened to me and @shinmera and possibly others. No verification, no double-checking - just type in ANY GitHub username and they'll auto-invite anyone you'd like. Basically, they've made an online spam cannon that fires their GitHub org invitations to arbitrary users. And their responses to that? https://web.archive.org/web/20240626081341/https://github.com/madewithai/madewithai/issues/29
