@larsweisbrod @tante Ich glaube nicht, dass Bluesky offen föderieren wird, z.B. mit Mastodon. Es wird ein walled garden wie Twitter es war. Würde mich natürlich freuen, falsch zu liegen...

@tante @larsweisbrod Ok, das war unklar ausgedrückt. Aber eine Brücke zwischen AP und AT wäre ja schon möglich, wenn man wollte. Und wenn man wirklich ein Interesse an einem "open decentralized network" hätte, würde man das doch anstreben oder zumindest nicht unterbinden..

@aloa5 Exactly. I often don't boost someone but instead make new post with the content of the original post (say a link to some website) because I want to give my own comment. With a quote feature, the original poster would know that someone engaged with their stuff, here it's like "nobody cares, so I might as well not waste my time anymore posting."@ml @asayakkara @tiago @academicchatter

@tiago @maria_antoniak but is there also a switch to have it not run by a for-profit company? I’m the first to criticize Mastodon, but the for-profits haven’t had a very appealing track-record so far, either. Are there any reasons to believe BS will be different?

@larsweisbrod Das ist eben die einfache Antwort auf die Frage, warum Twitter immer noch interessanter ist: es sind einfach Leute aus allen Fachrichtungen da und hier gibts quasi nur Tech. Wie kann man die rüberbringen? Die wollen eben nicht weil es hier langweilig ist (und moralische Gründe anscheinend irrelevant sind.) Collective action problem… @ThomasP

@tiago Die Brücke ist ne super Idee. Leider haben die usual suspects auf Mastodon natürlich alles getan, um das Projekt zu verhindern, so dass es bis jetzt noch keine Möglichkeit gibt, Leute, denen man auf BS folgen möchte, automatisiert dazu aufzufordern, die Brücke zu aktivieren. Soll wohl noch kommen, aber bis dahin ist es leider sehr schwer, BS Accounts zum folgen zu finden...

@tiago I think I will make the move too as soon as I have some time. Let's hope that Mastodon gets its act together before Bluesky will start to monetize (surely their current plan of making enough money by selling premium features like better resolution videos can't be the real plan...)
