@christopher @MirrorAyako @allstartrek Yes, Kes was an important character, especially for the EMH. She advocated for him at the beginning of Season 1 when the rest of the crew did not see him as a person. She also encouraged him to learn and develop new hobbies, expanding his programming from the purely EMH that he had at the start of S1.

While the Maquis story arc wasn't a major part of DS9, when they do focus on it, like in this episode ("For the Uniform"), the writers do a good job.Btw, I wished VOY had more Maquis - Starfleet conflict when the two crews initially merged into one. @christopher @MirrorAyako @allstartrek Yes, those were some good episodes. I guess I expected more conflict at the beginning of Season 1 when they started to work together. As you said, they ended up sprinkling that topic over the seasons.

@Ricardus I remember watching TNG back back in '87 on my 25" Sony color TV as well as my 19" Zenith black and white TV (with the rabbit ears). While S1 wasn't as strong, I enjoyed the episodes and glad the show was able to improve and gain momentum in S2 and S3 when it stepped out of TOS's shadow.
