But really, does anyone with an infosec/actual computing background ever enjoy computers on the TV?

I enjoy the commitment to the bit required by Seele to have everyone hop on a video call in three-dimensional space with their cameras off.Truly, 21st century coworking at its most realistic.

Delightful to me that a division-sized element of humans can do what 14 angels haven't managed to figure out.

It's kind of a neat angle that like, Gendo being Gendo, most of NeRV have zero psychological readiness to kill other huma'ns on purpose.I mean, sure, the boss is apparently trying to end the world, but most of us thought we were keeping the aliens out of New2 Tokyo.

Actual arguments I have actually had on a fucking Tuesday:I'm not saying there's never a good use for this tool per se, I'm just asking why you think you need a whole ass agent to automate something that's 4 API endpoints and a call to kubectl.

I'm definitely going to get fired for being as obstinate about this as I am but until somebody finds a problem I can't solve with deterministic code I don't want your probabilistic bullshit in my envirnoment.I am the fucking Uptime Guy and I am not letting you deliberately knock out columns under the fucking bridge.

Man, do Americans understand how fucking eerie the pledge of allegiance is?I would rather be surprised by a classroom badly singing happy birthday then ever hear that again. Jesus.

Not me suddenly justifying keeping a C64 or similar around for "research" because some of the Ecliptic Mariner shorts take place in an alternate 80s so I should really know how those computers felt.(No you cannot take my Apollo Guidance Computer emulator away I need that)

I wonder how different the world would be if the abrahamics had landed on a "search of the truth by means of interrogation of the mysteries" tract instead of a "conform to the ruberics or burn in hell" tract. Not that there's a religion on the planet immune to abuses (that's the nature of institutions) but I feel like it'd be harder to weaponize if it was framed as an esoteric pursuit of the Perfect Knowledge of God instead of "you accidentally checked the sin-boxes we care about this week, get legistlated"

@foone Some years ago some very clever designer probably decided to place something load-bearing in the beginning dialogue, used it to seed some other function, or created a Coconut Problem, and now Alice has no choice but to work out what they were thinking from last principals.

As someone who lived through it it's baffling to me how many people incorrectly assume that Y2K was a nothingburger. In the end, it appeared to be a nothingburger.Mostly because of the years of work that went into future proofing. This is a subpost about unix timestamps.

Bafflingly, though I am developing a toy, I actually have to implement a workaround to the 2038 problem in the PETI firmware because I'm pretty sure my RTC doesn't go past that.... But then, I also thought I saw code referencing the year 4000-something so maybe I'm wrong about needing to adapt to it.

Hey, remember how I said getting my keyboard to work right on macOS would be a simple matter of changing a few of the keymappings on the QMK firmware?Turns out, since the last time I worked with those mappings, QMK has completely changed how keyboards are defined and laid out in the source files. So fuck me I guess I'm just not allowed to build any firmware at all until I completely redo all the work I did four years ago, because their automatic translation layer doesn't fucking work either.
