@john Hype and dangerous. There's no intelligence present, but there are outcomes and decisions (or sometimes, the excuse/alibi for a "blameless decision") with real-world impact on people's lives and livelihoods; potentially even life-ending ones.

@john Also polls really need to implement > 4 options to useful; A and/or B plus Other would seem to suggest 5 is the absolute lower bound

Long day out with the #birds (becoming something of a New Year tradition). Last shot of the day, unprocessed.

Further testing of the Canon RF 200-800, *with* the 1.4x convertor attached. Which frankly shouldn't work, particularly for hand-wield, but clearly does, at the expense of a little noise (these are denoised per my usual workflow). I should probably take it off again and check noise levels without it, but when you can get this sort of performance with 1120mm of hand-held lens, it's a bit like trying not to use the One Ring.#Birds #Canon #EasternChipmunk #PileatedWoodpecker #PIWO

@futurebird There's a "to create anything from scratch, first create the universe" answer to that (and I'll see if I can think of any books that provide that), but for an overview of the mechanics, this page isn't bad: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Overview

@MichaelTBacon @anubis2814 @llewelly @futurebird @medley56 Last time I asked a genetic biologist, they reckoned dogs were still considered a subspecies of wolf, so I dunno how widely agreed that is.

"Ivan replied that code is either correct or incorrect; there’s no subjective determination of whether it’s high or low… if a coder writes code poorly, the program simply won’t run"If an engineer ever says that to you, run the fuck away. The fact it runs doesn't mean it's:- right- secure- maintainable- efficientor can handle anything except the single case you've tried. Every time you scratch the surface of a vibe coder, you'll find delusionally low standards.https://mastodon.world/@longreads/115072087038769334

Honestly, that quote is one of the most disturbing things I've seen in years, in "#AI" / #LLMs or almost anything else. And yet it's just encapsulating a common belief in a whole class of developers.
