@helene yeah maybe so. I can’t get native v6 out here and tunnelling seems like a PITA. So I don’t have much experience with real ipv6. You’re prolly right

@Someguy that's oversimplified. Look at the Uighurs in China, Tutsi/Hutu in Africa, Sunni/Shia violence in Islamic dominated countries. There's a ton of race/class/clan violence out there.

@kev @lkhrs interesting. I do this and have done since about 1997. I virtually never have the issue where I don’t know what email I used. But I like having someone else as my MX (a service like Proofpoint) and so many commercial email services charge by the “account” which means per email address. So I end up exposing my email server’s IP for a lot of my subdomains. And I get more spam and stuff that way. Still, I’m not thinking of changing. It’s a good system.

@penguin42 Funny you should mention it. I experienced "taxation without representation" in the most amazing way for about 8 years. In the UK, a tenant pays "council tax" which is the local tax that pays for schools and such. Makes sense. But as a legal immigrant (non-citizen) I was not allowed to vote. At that time I had a house in the US I rented out. I paid the taxes on it, as is normal, but my tenants were allowed to vote, not me. So in TWO countries I paid tax without being allowed to vote!

@zleap @cwebber That view (“people can write code…”) is overly glib. Of the humans on the planet who might USE mastodon, it is a tiny fraction who have the skill and availability to do anything with it. We who can must centre the needs of those who can’t. Otherwise those needs won’t be represented in the code.
