Still buzzing off some problem-solving made possible by @linuxmint forums and @freedosproject this week. Managed to update my Dell's BIOS using a Live USB loaded with FreeDOS and the BIOS update exe. Problem solved. Feeling of accomplishment is like a new bar of Irish Spring. Been meaning to tackle that for some time now. @ricmac I harbor the same resentment. But I have learned to let it go. The sea refuses no river. I'll be sure to tag the person here with an "at" if they've got an account or the proverbial 'message in the bottle': the hashtag that awaits them when they inevitably pop on.
