@wjmaggos There's actually an iptv standard that's big in some countries. I've installed apps built for it, and the Owncast Directory natively supports it. https://owncast.online/docs/watching-on-tvs/

@wjmaggos For Owncast, it's just software that's meant to be a piece of infrastructure, not a platform or a replacement for anything else. People can build apps or sites on top of it (we've done so ourselves, even!) but at its core it's server software. So we won't be getting into the platform world anytime soon.
