Leaving aside the whole ethical and privacy angle for a second (I know, I know), can someone explain how #Threads integrates with the #fediverse? Can I follow someone with a Threads account using my Mastodon account? (Assuming my instance hasn't blocked it...) In which case, what would be the point of a person on Mastodon migrating to Threads, or creating another account there? #nostupidquestions

It pleases the Central European in me that the Thames and the Seine were both once tributaries of the Rhine.

I spent a happy quarter of an hour collecting conkers with my 5yo son. Brought a bucket full of them home and heâs so excited to play with them. So I strung one on a string to show him how to play. And he flipped. out. DADDY YOU RUINED MY CONKER YOU RUINED IT

To be fair itâs as politically articulate and seriously researched as most UK government policies since 2015

Lord grant me the incredible sense of entitlement to ask a democratically elected foreign government whether theyâve checked their humanitarian policies with their voters

Musk is a serious fucking global problem and it can get a lot worse before it gets better. Not sure how to rein him in now. But for damn sure donât be giving him your patronage or money. Get the hell off Twitter, sell your Tesla, stop enabling him.

When youâre a tech journo writing an article on alternatives to Twitter in an international news publication and you fail to mention one of the big three, thatâs an editorial choice. The author @joshtaylor.bsky.social disagreed and blocked me on Bluesky for engaging, which is weak af. Calling this shit out. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2023/oct/17/threads-and-bluesky-need-to-figure-out-what-they-want-to-be?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

I suppose someone would have had to tell Johnson that launching a Special Boat Service raid on a Dutch vaccine lab would give the Netherlands every reason to trigger NATO Article 5 and the EUâs solidarity mechanism leading to potential nuclear strikes on Downing Street by both the US *and* France. đhttps://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/dec/05/boris-johnson-covid-inquiry-prime-minister?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

Given who followed, itâs sometimes tempting to suppress the memory of just how unspeakably dreadful Johnson was and is. Truly nothing compares to him.
