@noelle it's really funny reading Chinese Go code because all the types are just T[name] because ofc you can't do capital letters in Chinese

@noelle i mean the fact that you are asking people who are living in a country which is less and less a democracy whether it's "essential" to do so is also kind of a flawed approach imo

@cwebber i think Go is a good async language the same way JavaScript is a good async language—good for client apps where the asynchronousity comes mostly from waiting to receive data over a network connection which you're never going to modify anywaywhat is baffling to me is the fact that the client ecosystem in Go is Pretty Bad and everyone seems to be trying to use it for Server Stuff instead?? which it is definitely not well-suited for

if anyone knows of any cyberpunk(/-adjacent) transhumanist(/-adjacent) works which are not-shitty enough to be worthy of deconstructive critique, i'd appreciate recs in that regard thanks[by not-shitty i mean at least as good of a track record on ableism and gender rights as a politics of liberal inclusion and accommodation would provide(i consider that an extremely low bar but am currently skeptical of finding anything other than "disabled people don't exist in the future!!" so)]

@garfiald i definitely have heard people talk about racialization over essentialized theories of race beforebut my understanding of the current English-language theory is that white people are ALSO considered racialized, just differently; there is no people "outside racialization"; it is not that white people "don't have race"so the English terms are for describing those differences wrt racialization; being racialized as white versus racialized as a person of colour, etc

@garfiald (my background is in gender more than race but you certainly would never refer to women and enbies as "gendered people", as though men were not themselves gendered. and ofc comparisons between gender and race can only be tenuous at best, but still.)
