Unlearning the habit of reflexively going straight for the jugular in conversations online is going to be the toughest part of of the migration to #Mastodon. Bird App taught us a LOT of bad habits that are not good for communities. #TootSweet

@fluffy it means when I have a minor disagreement with someone, assuming the worst about them. There are so many bots and trolls and edgelords on Bird app that it was a safe assumption, and often necessary for self-protection. Here, it's neither necessary nor useful.

TBH, since I've (re)joined #Mastodon, I've found myself reflexively reading the Bird App for a moment or two, getting disgusted with the hate and conflict, and changing tab back to Mastodon.

@stux sometimes people in the US absolutely do call people on the streets and even in their own homes a bunch of names in a conversation about politics. But most of the people who instigate that (but by no means all) are right-leaning.

@Darksidestraxus I'd rather be on a stable, scalable non-commercial community of communities that has been around since 2016 than a low rent Instagram with serious security issues created by someone who learned to code in 2019 and backed by who-knows-who.

@fluffy @Darksidestraxus I do. People can and will create their own servers, professional organcan create their own servers and thus avoid the verification problem, and the granularity of user control is a real bonus.

The FIRST and most basic #lifehack principle for #Neurospicy #Neurodiverse folks is that our ability to do things (like other humans') is cyclical, BUT that our cycles do not usually match societal expectations. So step one is to pay attention to your natural cycles. Your sleep cycle, your food and elimination cycles, your energy cycles, and your social cycles. Once you KNOW your cycles you can start working with them.
