I know there are dozens of bills targeting #trans and #LGBTQIA+ folks in the #TXlege right now, but I'm focused on this dress code issue for a few reasons:—less people reporting on it than the lege bills (before we broke the story)—It harkens back to sumptuary regulations where #police would raid #queer establishments and beat & arrest people not wearing "enough" clothing that matched the gender identity cops assigned to them. Because apparently there's been some speculation in the menchies, the feature pic in this piece was taken at a 21-and-up club, because it's literally the point of this article that performers are capable of performing both for adults and for #children, as appropriate for each audience. Although I'd not personally have an issue with kids seeing anything pictured in this photo? Age appropriateness matters, but this idea that we should hide every inkling of human sexuality from young people until they turn 18, then push them into the adult world and expect to end up with sexually mature, healthy people is baffling to me.

I've spent the last week digging through our traffic metrics for the year, and #birdsite remains a significant source of social media traffic for us. Socials are never the biggest traffic source for us, and Twitter's value is increasingly inconsistent, even setting aside the ethics of the place. It often gets beat by sites like #reddit or even #Facebook. It's clear there are opportunities for orgs to invest resources in new/alternative networks (like here!). #SocialMedia #nonprofit #journalism
