@weirdconstructor I prefer having a pragmatic prototyping solution for this. Claro, a pcb etching station allows me to do "almost perfect" pcbs, nice and clean... But perfect is the evil of good. I prefer having a fast and direct workflow. I want to create something, let's do it. Sketch out a circuit, use the saw/cutter to cut out a fitting perfboard and lets solder. [1/2]

Had some fun mixing some hypnotic techno the other night. Besides the new style of sound, a new thing I am playing around with is routing one send/return of the xone mixer through the awesome Dragonfly FOSS reverb to smoothen some transitions and buildups. I love how spacy this set turned out, totally got into some trance while mixing! Oh and I moved the setup completely to PipeWire. Works incredibly well.https://soundcloud.com/user-650419967/forest-sounds#techno #ambient #mixxx #foss #linuxaudio #dj #dragonfly

@falktx Is it possible to somehow send a CV from the host to a module? Maybe with a Macro module or something like that?

@unfa Probably you are looking for Kodi/LibreElec? It's a media server gui that you can run on a linux. LibreElec is a distro to run Kodi on rpi (and others). https://libreelec.tv/

@be I think that could be quite cool, some way to record midi as automation curves combined with information about when a track starts/stops/jumps/loops. Another thing that I find cool is a way to automate fader cuts/save fader cuts. That would be hella cool to basically prepare fader cuts to extract the kick, a vocal, percussions... or just have the stems whatever. Currently my idea for this would be using a normal traditional dj app, getting the cut skills but combined with a sampler/looper.

@be It would be the next step of killing traditional djing, not only fully synced, but transitions fully prepared ^^ I can already hear the screams of vinyl gatekeeper djs :P But jokes aside, another beautiful thing would be that you don't need to save the audio to the disk during the gig, it would be enough to save the midi parameter changes. Then afterwards you could replay it, fix the failed transitions and render it.

@falktx Can you use tan generators? I use them for my bank as I don't want my bank account be bound to a phone that can easily get stolen/lost/I dont want google shit on my phone. I think most banks in EU support this, otherwise it's a good reason to switch the bank?

@falktx only tan lists, but not tan generators. So the paper thingy is banned, same as sms tan, but the seperate device where you have to type in a password and scan a qr like thingy is still allowed from what i know. But strong security obviously is the biggest bullshit lie ever made. Especially framing phones as something even farly remote being secure.

Uff, why do I need to sign up on midi.org to download a pdf? Specification gatekeeping is shiiiiit.

@falktx @unfa I think ircv3 and especially ergo.chat as a ircd could bring irc to 2022. The most interesting ones are chathistory, always on without a bouncer, message/account tags and proper web client support. Also check out the lounge as a web client, it even supports voice messages/file uploading/link previews... Techy people love irc because it's so simple, ircv3 also makes it extensible.

@falktx @unfa Also with bridges getting better and better there's not really a need to missionary people to one tech or the other, that's only reproducing the behaviour of big corps. The other way is true, just plump different open platforms together and let people choose what they want to use.

@falktx What a question, that's hella cool. Not sure if this is a breed from hell but for sure it's cool. Amazing that this is working, even somehow.

@falktx @unfa That's really cool! I'm a bit scared that you can give it whatever url and it tries to parse it. It looks like the webserver downloads it for the browser and then hands it out to them? What happens if I do eg. https://cardinal.kx.studio/?patchurl=https://proof.ovh.net/files/10Gb.dat ?

I spend my last days to rewrite my serial to virtual midi bridge tool in rust. Bye bye python! I also used the time to overhaul the appearance of the project and move to @Codeberg !In case you are interested in building midi controllers with Arduinos or other simple microcontrollers that can't do usb midi, check it out :)https://codeberg.org/obsoleszenz/serial2midi
