It looks like moa.party is no longer cross-posting my Tweets here. 🤬 Any other tools that still work to do this?

Repeat after me: Blocking paste on a form textbox is not a security feature.

Spend time with nontechnical people while they use tech. You’ll learn a lot.

If you have a Synology NAS, there's an app called Storage Analyzer that can, among other things, identify duplicate files on your NAS.Still have to manually delete, but at least you have a list. Really wish there was a "keep the first of each file" action to automate it.

It’s getting towards the end of the year and your team might have budget to spare. If so, I humbly ask you to consider donating to ESLint:https://eslint.org/donate

ESLint is coming up on v9.0.0. If your company uses ESLint, *please* take the time to talk to someone about sponsoring our work. If your company ever sponsors conferences, meetups, etc., then there is probably budget for this.We are very transparent about where the money goes. Last year (2022), we spent $140,000 to maintain the project.https://eslint.org/blog/2023/01/eslint-2022-year-review/That's the salary of one senior engineer in the US across the whole project.I am willing to hop on a call to discuss. Ping me.

Okay, eslint.config.mjs and eslint.config.cjs are coming to ESLint:https://github.com/eslint/eslint/issues/17863Thanks to Jake Bailey for being open to discussion and providing detailed information about his use case that ultimately convinced the team.I feel like this is worth highlighting: Jake succeeded here because he didn't start with "revisit your decision." He started with, "here's my use case, here's what isn't working for me."

How can "what is your pet's name?" be considered a valid security question for authentication purposes?

The Open Source Pledge is such an important endeavor. We need companies to start paying for the value they're extracting from open source software. Please share everywhere, including with your manager.https://opensourcepledge.com/

@rauschma an ambitious project that gets a lot right (disallowing publishing for invalid packages) and a lot wrong (packages can’t easily be used in Node.js). Also seems pretty dormant at the moment. My issues have not received responses in months.

I declined a $1,000/month ESLint sponsorship from a pay-for-follows company. That's not the type of sponsor we want. It's frustrating that these types of companies (as well as online casinos) are more willing to sponsor ESLint than tech companies where ESLint is used.
