@cwwilkie Hard to say. Probably not, except for optically. And since combat spacecraft will probably be engaging at such ranges that they will be just specks in the telescopes, optical dazzle is pointless. I am unsure if radar dazzle is possible. Perhaps radar-stealth counts?

I am rereading my favorite H. Beam Piper novels. Four Day Planet, Junkyard Planet (aka The Cosmic Computer), and Space Viking.I like them for the world building, and for the themes of progress and development. Junkyard Planet even has hints of Asimov's psychohistory. I do not personally care for Piper's politics, especially in Space Viking. About on par with Jerry Pournelle. Well, this made me happy. I was purchasing supplements for the #FATE #TTRPG called the FATE Space Toolkit. As I read it, I found it very scientifically accurate. Further, as I read it I found a couple of bits that seemed familiar.All was explained when I came to the bibliography. Among the erudite sources was a reference to my Atomic Rockets website. This brought a smile to my face. The purpose of my site is to help authors, I'm always glad when it does.

@freemo In a more scifi military sense, if a space battleship wants to use its laser cannons to strafe ground targets, the laser has to use frequencies longer than the vacuum frequencies or they will be cut off by the atmosphere. IR is great for a weapon, since heating is hurting. But far infrared gets blocked by moisture in the air.
