@debacle @gajim great feature, especially when lurking tons of MUCs and having a gazilion contacts via gateways!Yes, some sort of XEP for multidevice sync would be nice.

@maeool J'aime bien organic maps perso. Malgré leur défaut, une grande force de GMaps c'est leur référencement des commerces, et de leurs horaires d'ouverture. C'est souvent faux d'ailleurs, mais peu importe, ça donne l'impression d'être vraiment complet.Ha et les avis aussi. Bonne saloperie, mais on a envie de croire que c'est utile.

J'ai jamais compris le snobisme de la Saint-Sylvestre que j'entends extrêmement souvent : « oh non, moi je fais rien le 31, le jour de l'an ça me gave ». Évidemment, chacun fait ce qu'il veut, mais un jour où on retrouve ses potes pour manger, danser, boire, tchatcher, jusqu'à tard dans la soirée, quel est le problème exactement ? Récemment j'ai entendu parler « d'injonction à faire la fête » comme qqch de négatif. Perso, je préfère ça à l'injonction à être un membre productif de la société.

@uneheuredepeine Bonjour ! Je suis un hacker dans un film. Ça veut dire que j'arnaque des gens pour leur tirer leur argent, et mon ordinateur a une interface ultra chelou qui a pas l'air fonctionnelle du tout mais avec plein d'animations et de messages qui clignotent (sur 8 écrans). Je suis vraiment très inadapté socialement, particulièrement quand je parle aux femmes (je suis un homme, évidemment).

@bortzmeyer Le chiffrement de bout en bout interopérable, c'est dur. Àmha, c'est en partie parce que tout le monde n'en attend pas la même chose, et les développeurs de clients font partie de ce « tout le monde ».Mon avis totalement objectif et non-biaisé : autant utiliser XMPP alors. ;-)

This is weird.Focusing solely on the E2EE misses a lot of points, one of those being that with #signal one of the ends has to be an Android or iOS ~spyphone~ smartphone, which is not really something you can have 100% trust into IMHO.

@debacle @Lautaro_Ferrero Non-authoritative (I am nobody) comments:- Replace `<x-poll>` with a XEP-0004 data form, no need to reinvent the wheel.- Replace the custom IQ flow by a XEP-0050 adhoc command flow, some clients have generic UI for that (eg @gajim or @cheogram).- (maybe) use XEP-0428 fallback indication for supporting clients to strip the body.More work! @debacle @John_Livingston Good point about E2EE @larma (I don't see the point of polls in direct messages though)No need for server-side support would be nice, but then you need to make sure that (a) MAM retention is sufficient and (b) clients actually enough history messages, right?Rule enforcement by clients is fine for private groups, but I don't think it's a good fit for public ones.Data forms in messages are possible, why not use them?

@arcanechat @debacle I have had some success in pointing people to https://quicksy.im/ for "consistent branding between iOS and Android".But I think that some basic computing knowledge (what is a app/a client, a service provider, a protocol…) is the only way for tech be empowering. People are not stupid. Big Tech has many incentive to keep people in the dark. We can do better.I have nothing against delta chat BTW, an I think @Goffi is building a DC/XMPP gateway.

Having some knowledge about matters that affect everybody is a prerequisite of a functional democracy though.TBH I don't understand your aggressiveness here, I would be super happy if everyone moved away from WhatsApp and used delta chat. I prefer #XMPP but the nice thing about open protocols is that it's easy to make gateways between them. I know literally zero person that use deltachat though ATM.
