@gnulinux winget ist sonst noch die offizielle Variante von Microsoft. Moment hat choco noch mehr Pakete, könnte mir aber gut vorstellen, dass sich dies ändert. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/package-manager/winget/

@mitchmarq42xyz @nnungest BTW. how do you open a local file when you’re connected to a remote? I can’t seem to get back.

@mitchmarq42xyz That unfortunately doesn’t work. It shows only the root of the remote system, I can’t go to the root of the local system. I’m using ivy btw.

What are some good and maintained alternatives to the #Emacs package perspective.el ?I’m mostly looking for a way to separate project buffers in one Emacs instance.

@louis Since I can't use multi select, I probably use mu4e and iOS mail a similar amount.

I’m just watching the demo video for #Hyperbole for #Emacs.Like org mode it’s one of those packages which just shows you that Emacs is such a different kind of editor and makes you feel that something has gone a bit wrong with computing.Interesting that I didn’t came across it before.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKwZHSbHmPg

@daviwil It's really a great project. I managed to convince my employer to donate to Free Software and Open Collective helps a lot with this.We currently spend certain percentages to projects which are important to us and the rest goes to Open Collective which, we hope, then can distribute it to projects we don't have on our radar.

@daviwilI'm sure some would do it. They just need someone to carry it internally. If I wouldn't have asked for it and took the time to explain it they wouldn't have done it on their own but once I did the owner saw the value quite easily. Now I get a fixed budget each year which I can freely donate.I don't know if I can share the amount but I'm quite please by it.I try to focus on smaller projects or communities over companies (think Debian instead of Ubuntu).

@linuxmatters How is #Tailscale or #zerotier different from a normal VPN I setup on my home router? Especially if I self host it?So it sounds like it does the same but just routing the traffic dedicated to the “LAN” which one could do with other VPN solutions as well. I feel like I’m missing something obvious here.

Does someone have a tip on how to configure #Emacs Tramp so that it uses bash when I open #vterm and connect to the remote system? Currently it only opens SH. In addition it should support #NixOS as well. So it probably has to use `/usr/bin/env bash` instead of `/usr/bin/bash`.

@mitchmarq42xyz Ah sorry that wasn’t really the one I meant but I couldn’t find it quickly. A few years ago they did some very shady stuff which made them an absolute no go to use. Maybe you find it among all the other dirt. What other company has a Wikipedia article for all their “controversies”.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_controversies_involving_GoDaddy

What a fantastic concert yesterday by @MASTERBOOTRECORD at the #Sedel in Lucerne! The music was absolutely perfect and the projection behind the band were so cool that at times we couldn’t decide where to look. Lucky me, I even caught myself a signed floppy disk🤩.#metal #8bit
