@jawsh Yeah, if you defend yourself and harm the other individual, you leave yourself open to be charged with assault yourself. It's quite stupid. To gauge intent, they'd ask questions like: was it common practice for you to carry around a pocket knife? What purposes would you use the pocket knife for?Are there others who can verify that you commonly carried a pocket knife for reasons outside of protecting yourself?Etc.

@jawsh It's not even limited to things like pocket knives. Let's say you were carrying a stick. A baseball bat. A fork. All of these could be considered weapons when the intent warrants it.

@jawsh That happened not too long ago. There was a trial against the guy whose property was being robbed and he killed one of the robbers, though he was acquitted.

The other residents left this morning. It will be just me and the kids all day. So, I felt like looking half decent.

@mike Well, Mikey, it took a lot of work to get to even that bare minimum of decency. (Thank you ;-))

@mike For all of what you've got going on, you still look good! Though, a wee bit cranky. But cranky suits you.

@mike I use Audible, but once I get myself an actual library card, I'll use Libby (which will get me the books free)

@mike I don’t know if libby has the option to change reading speeds also, but I never listen at regular speed, always at least 1.5x!

@unicornfarts I wonder how they’re going to get the Nike card to their nephew if they’re seriously ill. 🤔
