Reading is a better use of your time than a great many other things. The world suffers more from a lack of readers than it does from an overabundance of them.I am biased, to be fair. I get to read wonderful words written by writers all over the country, and for that I am blessed.

@lowqualityfacts This reminds me of an essay by Roger Ebert titled This is the Dawning of the Age of Credulity. Unfortunately, the essay is incomplete on the website, and cuts off just when it gets really good. Jennette McCurdy's memoir I'm Glad My Mom Died was a total mind-job. I can imagine some people will refuse to read it from the title alone. What I will say is that the title is understood by the end of the book. What was done to her as a child by the adults in her life is outrageous. I can't speak to her acting (never saw iCarly), but McCurdy is a good writer, and I look forward to her next book.

The new program for preparing paperback books is going to be great. There's a lot of work to be done, but my first test suggest it will be at least 3 1/2 times faster than my old preparation method. I would not be surprised if a process that used to take a week will soon be done in a day, and with much better typesetting.

@fsf I'd like to suggest an FSF project: please make your web store into a product. Make it into something other free-software business can use, with good documentation. I would donate money to such a project immediately if it was announced. E-commerce is very complicated, and so the need for easy-to-use web stores is met by lots of non-free solutions.
