       @jonoabroad When I signed up to mastodon.nz, I had to fill in the form for why I was related to NZ, and wait a bit. When I signed up for pixelfed.nz, I think they must've used my details (same email address and username), and it just automatically went through.

       @zleap @DESYnews @Jaden2 Step3 - when considering job applicants, do NOT look for people who will "fit into the culture" because that's just code for "we want more people that are like ourselves" which means more white (and probably male) people.

       @strypey The One Laptop Per Child network comes to mind. Apparently it was on the verge of turning into a full-fledged independent network of the parents in the community, when it got shut down because the government didn't want the parents to have that kind of freedom.

       Can anyone help me find a comic I saw a while back? It had a manager talking to a worker, "how long to do X project?", worker says "2 months", manager: "what if I hired more workers and doubled your staff?" worker: "10 months." Anyone remember a comic to that effect?

       @futurebird we're encouraged to use it, but not pressured. So far people seem to like it for helping write things. I use it for code questions when I can't find answers elsewhere.
