Portion of the celling is done with tadelakt!After the test on small wall the other day, we went on with the celling as its logical to do that first before we do all the walls. Wasn't looking forward to it as you need to work with your head and your hands up (my neck hurts like I went to Cannibal Copse show). But when you have no choice you need to push through.Yesterday I applied two layers of tadelakt. Right after that I did the compression and initial flattening and polishing with Japanese and a plastic trowel. And I must admit it was my best plaster work so far. Super smooth and flat surfice without any trowel marks and most importantly not making mess around.Next morning me and @antilopa went on with polishing the plaster with a stone. That's a lot of work specially when applying to the celling (double the neck and hands pain). After good few hours of polishing it was time for soaping This is a process that gives tadelakt its water repellent properties. Olive soap mixed with water reacts with lime closing pours and creating water resistant layer. Of course that meant more polishing with the stone. So after entire day of stone polishing, the process is done. I really like the effect already. It will take quite fewawesome or the plaster to totally dry and another weeks before it's completely cured. I'm really looking forward to doing the rest of the bathroom. It will look awesome and I can't wait to see it. #diy #spruitje

We also managed to put tiles around the bathtub. Still need to grout it but wanted to brag about it already :pIt was nice and pretty productive building week. Tomorrow work week. Lots of plans and ton of todos. I hope it's as productive as building was #diy #spruitje

@cjd @newman @matthew The more I see those news and policy proposals about internet and privacy, the more I just feel like closing in localhost and just live life far away from the mainstream. You know, finding pleasure in doing things like traditional clay plastering or simply mowing the grass…..

@cjd @newman @matthew Indeed I’m very lucky both with my living situation but also with the fact dutch politics are so defragmented which means you always need to seek compromise . Also the govs fall for really peanuts when comparing to scandals in other countries. but that doesn’t mean that fucked up policies are not pushed left and right and the screw is being constantly tightened just like everywhere else. More subtle, and not so much in your face, but as effective.

@cjd @dcc @xaetacore Yes. Been thinking of just using tower instead of the “regular 19 inch servers” in my home rack. The only reason I still use 19” is because I still have them, but I think I will start replacing them with just towers. I dont need a lot, and indeed less noisy, less power consumption etc. And for storage I can always use jbod case.

@Codeberg Sadly not much will change I’m afraid. Just like when M$ bought github. However, now at least there is a large dedicated, community driven, user first, instance so unlike the time when people could choose between gitlab (not that much better) or obscure instances scattered around the net, there is a chance more people will just move. Specially that forgejo and folks at codeberg are rather competent bunch. BTW what’s the state of forgejo fediverse features?

Last week was just more of the same. we spent entire time working on the plastering and polishing in the bathroom. Still need to finalize some places (mostly around the toilet) but the rest has been polished and we also put a protective layer of olive soap mix. Walls are super smooth and a bit reflective as well. This week is a work week so not much building. But next week we should manage to finish last two walls.I have to say it's been exhausting week. Tadelakt requires so much labor no wonder hiring someone to do it costs an arm and a leg. Much respect to those who do it for living. #diy #spruitje

@cjd Not sure. ISIS and Al-Qaeda have leadership, cells organizing and coordinating and clear structure. Antifa to my knowledge has none of that. It’s loos group of people under the umbrella of anti-fascism. Like how do you distiguish antifa from others? what makes a person antifa so clearly that you can execute a law?

@cjd Nah. NL is still pretty sane. Here is what I heard: legally meaningless political theater, only the minister can ask the courts to proscribed an organisation and the PM already said “antifa” is not an organisation in the banable sense and mp’s shouldn’t vote for this motion. Only kind of surprising thing is that the vvd voted for it.

@FourOh-LLC Yeah another shocker. How can you claim such adhoc organization as you call is a terrorist organization if there is no single unified satute, mission, organizational structure, nothing. Sure you can get into semantics now and just pull your way but it’s not how law works (at least in eu), because that opens a way to criminalize anyone and everyone.

@disroot Very happy about that. The server is so quiet, I could have it running next to my desk 24/7. But yeah now the annoying part. But the reward will be awesome. While doing the whole change I also decided to take advantage of it and re-install from scratch my dev server where i initially test thigs. It’s a small HP prodesk minipc which works great for that purpose. I scavange extra 16GB ram from a broken laptop lat night so now have 32GB which should be plenty for what I need. It will be exciting but a lot of work to redeploy stuff as I will try to do it in as automated way as possible so whatever I will need to do custom I’ll try to automate along the way and try to implement it in production. Basically continuing on the Yak-shaving I did the last weeks.

Ouffff…. Two days spent on working for dovecot 2.4 update with support for Keycloak and LDAP. I think I finally got it to work. The nice thing about it is I finally read Dovecot’s docs :)
