My dad and grandma sometimes have the funniest arguments. My grandma was like, āWow, the Pope practically prepared everything as if he knew he was going to die.ā And then my dadās like, āoh, whatās so special about that? We all know weāre gonna die. Are all of us Nostradamus now?ā and I just š lmao

I had one of the best pizzas I have ever had after the concert last night and I am still thinking about it right now.

One of the things that always baffled me when I was a kid (still kind of does) is the following kind of interaction..Some adult: ādo x thingā (x seemingly a small, insignificant action, event or state)Me: ānah Iām goodāSame adult: *insists that I do the thing*Me, getting a little frustrated: āIām not feeling it and you still havenāt given me a good reason to do itāSame adult: āOh my god why are you making such a big deal out of this! Just do it!āEven as an adult I donāt understand this. If itās not a big deal, why would they still be insisting that I do the thing? And if itās a big deal, surely they can easily tell me why I should do it? Either itās a big enough deal for me to do it against my other wishes and for the reason to be easy to articulate or itās not. Adults were getting worked up over the smallest, meaningless refusals growing up. Then they would turn around and tell me with no irony I couldnāt take āNoā for an answer. š¤ Truly baffling. I honestly think a lot of adults are just cognitively rigid and then expect their kids not to disrupt their personal systems for smoothly operating in the small little island they slowly built for themselves as they themselves grew up.

I stayed in bed for a while today I literally just got up. Kind of hard to care to do things when you feel like a dead man walking given everything that is happening here.

The more time I spend in this country the more I realize a lot of people, though especially Americans, are overgrown children. They have childish understandings of history, social movements, violence, etc. Their sense of morals has childish foundations and so it flounders in the wind and is only capable of producing chaosāsomething reflected perfectly in the āworkingsā of the current administration. Itās as if they based their whole approach to life on simplistic googoogaagaa pre-K cartoons they watched as kids, and in that surety everything is at a level and interachangeable, such that they can grant themselves the luxuries of antisocial attitudes while reaping the benefits of prosocial ones. This, too, is reflected in the current administration. Thatās about all the commentary I have to give as I process the implications of this, because I will not let this distract me or take my eye off the ball.Aside from that, unfortunate to have heard a school shooting happened yet again around the same time though. Hopefully one day kids will be able to live without this sort of worry. Speaking for myself at this point I have little to no hope for the American project even at the national domestic level (at the foreign policy level it was already a foregone conclusion a long time ago..). Maybe at some point Iāll need to learn some Mandarin.

Belated Merry Xmas and Happy New Years fedi.Did not fulfill my goal of getting my blog up and running during Xmas vacation, but *at least* I have had my Obsidian notes hosted via Quartz (https://notes.sukaato.moe). I need to automate the rsync cloning of my Obsidian vault into the Quartz app running on my VPS at some point... Anyway, what I did manage the last few days was to do a little bit of work on my Python CLI app that's supposed to supplement my Ansible plays. What I was initially planning to do more of on vacation was, after all, constrained by, uh, the whole family getting sick and my grandma needing temporary hospitalization due to this.Anyway, for Xmas I got: a Minisforum mini-PC that I hope to use as a homeserver (thank you father), an Electro-Harmonix Bass Big Muff distortion effects pedal (thank you me), a sentimental mug replacement as last one had broken long ago (thank you gf), and ProtoArc mouse w/ 60% RoyalKludge keyboard (thank you me).As for New Years, family did not celebrate it for aforementioned reasons. I also had not put any reflection into the new year yet. Maybe later!

One of the things Iāve learned over the years is that the reason many chuds have a tendency to make false equivalencies is for some of them actually rooted precisely in their sub-clinical psychopathy, to the extent their use of false equivalency isnāt disingenuous. A person who cannot enter the emotional shoes of someone else in a sense lacks a metric system for the relative weight of emotions across a given situation or affair. This is also why they cast the perfectly natural emotional reactions of others as necessarily performative. Itās not just that they are skeptical that a given person may have reason or attachment to care in a given situation, which is a kind of local skepticism that all of us can have from time to time, but rather these chuds have an intrinsic incredulity at the idea that caring is possible at all. This is why they call others ācrazyā for defending a stranger and also act bewildered when someone refuses to entertain that, for example, murder and an ego bruise are not emotionally comparable events. For a chud whose cold-blooded, which is the trend, everything is indeed emotionally flat and level. I use the word āchudsā to be simultaneously vague and inclusive. I think you know the kinds of people I am talking about.
