@kzimmermann @anonimno Of course, considering that RPi is THE board people have and use, there is no excuse for FreeBSD not to support it well. Just because of that #RPi should be the primary platform FreeBSD supports flawlessly. It becomes more understandable once you learn that #RaspberryPi as a hardware platform is #openSource unfriendly.See this email from a former #FreeBSD RPi maintainer for more detailed support status: https://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-arm/2021-March/023214.html 2/2

I'm upstreaming a #Prometheus #node_exporter textfile collector script for #FreeBSD rc services. It collects only status information (whether a given service is running or not), but we can surely extend it in the future.https://github.com/prometheus-community/node-exporter-textfile-collector-scripts/pull/129

@zem @kubikpixel Ping is running in a capability mode so the amount of damage the attacker can do is very limited.

@kmj Ich benutze Marathon Plus Reifen seit 4 Jahren oder so. Die sind wunderbaren Reifen. Die Einlage schützt ganz gut gegen einen Platten. Ich kann sie nur empfehlen.

@alecui Just a note: #Wayland works very well on #FreeBSD. There is a very active community around making sure that Wayland experience is smooth on FreeBSD.

@jornane #Firefox is there to stay for sure. What you are observing is most likely that the Firefox package failed to build. That’s why it is not present in the package repository. I’m sure Firefox maintainers are working on that and your browser will be back there in the repository again soon. For now, you could pkg lock firefox so that it is not blown away by #pkg upgrade.

@dbdemon @jornane It's probably best to ask about it on the mailing list or in https://github.com/freebsd/pkg.I'm not sure why it is the way it is.

If you are upgrading to #FreeBSD14 right now, make sure to read the late announcements from the current #FreeBSD Release Engineering Lead, Colin Percival.https://www.daemonology.net/blog/2023-11-21-late-breaking-FreeBSD-14-breakage.html

@lobocode Just a note: rc.conf(5) is technically a shell script and some people actually use sh features in rc.conf.

@tendstofortytwo Either is fine. They have different strengths, but for simple home use you should just pick the one that feels nicer to you. People find #pf to be easier to use but then it is ipfw, which is nicely integrated with rc.conf(5) (see firewall_ variables in rc.conf(5)).

@tendstofortytwo To add to your headache, there is also #ipf, which is used by around 1% of #FreeBSD users, haha.

@evgandr @rf I've rewritten #FreeBSD's units(1) manual page at one point. Let me know if there's anything missing.https://man.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?units
