I do really like how KiCAD's hierarchical schematic sheets let you basically combine your block diagram with your schematics into a navigable whole.

Look, I can't make you use the right characters for SI prefix abbreviations, but it's not hard to do it.

@mmu_man @gsuberland Eventually, an RTSC will be found and proved. There's nothing in the laws of physics to prevent it. But the odds of any one new material being that RTSC are near to nil.

And there it is. Apparently I'm a monster of some kind because I dared ask what, exactly, might be on the other side of undoing the process that created and maintains white privilege in the first place. How, exactly, it's racist to want to solve racism at the root, rather than going piecemeal after individual actions, is beyond my limited comprehension. Here's the thing: The only way to eliminate white privilege is to eliminate whiteness. Privilege is the only reason whiteness exists as a concept. It's an artificial ethnicity, one created specifically to enforce a racist system. You cannot have a just, multi-ethnic society that isn't racist that coexists with an artificial ethnicity whose sole purpose is to denigrate and exploit others. They can't both exist -- so you can either kill whites (bad idea, genocide is bad, m'kay) or you can kill whiteness. Them's the choices. And if you do eliminate whiteness, then what replaces it, on an individual basis?

Before white people were white, they were something else. They had pale skin, but nobody thought of an Irishman and a Ukrainian as being anything like the same ethnicity. Nobody would have taken a Frenchman for being the same as a Norseman. That bit of cultural absurdity was created specifically to oppress and exploit the people who didn't meet the arbitrary and changing criteria for membership in the new "white" ethnicity.

For those who don't want to go to the site, here's the elevator pitch spec sheet for Turaco:Zilog EZ80F91 CPU: Clocked at 50MHz, this pipelined 8-bit microcontroller and CPU delivers roughly three times the performance per MHz of its 1980s Z80 kin.1MB Static RAM: By using 10nS static RAM, Turaco has no wait states to access main memory.VERA Graphics Chip: Using a modified version of the same Verilog design as the Commander X16, Turaco has all the graphcal features of that platform: 640x480px, 4096-colour graphics, 16-channel synthesized sound, PCM samples, 128 hardware sprites, and two tile/bitmap graphics or text layers.HDMI-Compatible Video Output: The modifications to the VERA design, plus the use of a DVI transmitter IC, enable real, zero-latency digital video output from VERA, using a standard HDMI cable, or a DVI cable through a passive adapter.USB Keyboard Support: Through the use of a CH559T control chip, Turaco natively supports all common USB keyboards.(cont'd)

Dual SNES Controller Ports: You can use any SNES-compatible gamepad controller, or, with software supporting it, the SNES mouse!SD Card Mass Storage: You will be able to use any FAT32 or ExFAT formatted SD card with your Turaco system.GPIO Port: You get 16 pins of bidirectional, 5V-tolerant GPIO, four pins of which can also be used with one of the hardware serial UARTs on the system.Ethernet: The pins for the EZ80F91's Ethernet MAC are exposed on a header, for development of an Ethernet accessory later on.Cartridge Slot: Turaco has a cartridge slot which is physically and electrically, but not logically, compatible with that of the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis -- Turaco cartrdiges will fit in the same shells and boxes, making physical releases much easier. Cartridges can contain ROM, RAM, I/O devices, and even SPI peripherals like more SD card slots!

No, I do not use a CMS on https://studio8502.ca, thank you very much. I write the HTML by hand, and use SASS to generate the stylesheet.

These were actually very popular for use as cocaine spoons. That's not an urban legend, it's historical fact. They're actually kind of collectible now.#trivia #americana #drugs

“The Programmer’s CP/M Handbook”, by Andy Johnson-Laird, has illuminated for me a number of things about the internal workings of CP/M. Very useful indeed. https://vtda.org/books/Computing/OperatingSystems/ProgrammersCpmHandbook_AndyJohnson-Laird.pdf

So, in any given CP/M system, the contents beginning at address 0x0000 are "JMP BIOS_WARM_BOOT", where BIOS_WARM_BOOT is the address of the "WARM_BOOT" entry in the BIOS jump table, by definition the second entry in the jump table, usually way up high in memory, above the TPA.The BIOS jump table always begins on a page boundary -- so it might begin at 0xE300, or 0xF100, etc. Thus, to figure out where in memory the BIOS jump table begins, you need only take the value of address 0x0003, which will be the high byte of the destination address of the JMP instruction at address 0x0000. Then add the function number of the BIOS function as the low byte, and CALL that address. The BDOS is much simpler -- you just do like LD DE,parameter LD C,function CALL 5and it handles the rest.CP/M-Plus has a special BDOS function for accessing BIOS calls through the BDOS, saving you the trouble of calculating the address.

CP/M only specifies 7-bit ASCII. Most systems did whatever they wanted with the high bit. What 8-bit character set would you use if you were making a new CP/M system?

@art My "new" workstation is built out of literal junk I got thrifting and consumer-grade tat I got on Amazon, and it shreds compared to my $3000-in-2015 notebook.
