@fedops @joeligj12 Adobe will have to adapt. ChromeOS is amazing for what I need it for at work. Personally, I wouldn’t trust doing anything on a Chromebook at home due to my trust issues with Google. However, ChomeOS, Android apps and Linux combined make a great choice for many.

@fedops @jason123santa @joeligj12 I use an Acer spin 713 (13.5” 3:2 screen) with an Intel i5 processor. The speed and reliability of it is remarkable. I’m struggling to find a laptop alternative that has the same amount of battery life. If I could have that Chromebook with Manjaro KDE and install android apps as well as stylus enabled apps, it would be the perfect solution for me.

@fedops @jason123santa @joeligj12 They are and run extremely well for my needs. The Acer 713 Chromebook is amazing but I really don’t trust Google with my information. If Google weren’t involved with the whole data collection nonsense, I would very happily use a Chromebook full time for personal use.

@jason123santa @fedops @joeligj12 There is local storage. For my Linux side, I use Nautilus file manager to organise my files and access AppImages. Even on the ChromeOS side, you can still store files locally. Also, I have a 256GB microSD card installed with documents, music and programming files.

@jason123santa @fedops @joeligj12 And flatpak works too. Only snaps are an issue because they can be hit or miss.

Does anyone have anti-virus installed on their Linux setup? I was thinking about adding ClamTk.

Thanks for the input guys. I know of the HiddenWasp malware threat but that appears to be from manually installing code in terminal. I like to say I am very choosy where I get my software from.

@fatboy When I Mac (7 years ago) I used Google Fuse to mount NTFS. A friend of mine uses Mounty for NTFS. https://mounty.app/

@mike Oh no. Not good, especially with a phone less than six months old. The Spigen tough armour case around my work phone (Google Pixel 4a). If you aren’t going to repair the screen and want an Android phone, I would recommend the Pixel 4a. I currently have my wife’s old iPhone 8 but would happily switch to a Pixel 4a for personal use. I believe there’s a few OS options to de-Google it if that’s what you want.

@fatboy I read this yesterday. I can imagine the content was very grim.

I’ve got a Lenovo IdeaPad 1 (AMD 3020e) with eMMC drive. Apart from Arch based distros, is there any other Linux disto that works with eMMC? TIA #linux

@selea Most of the Debian/Ubuntu distros don’t show the eMMC drive.

@selea I can’t see it in dmesg. After a little more digging, Ubuntu/Debian distros have a known issue with eMMC drives. I can install the distro on an external drive though. I’ve decided to stick with Manjaro KDE and tweak the desktop.

@cybette the new iPad mini is a great device, especially with the Apple Pencil.

@cybette I bought the pencil for my iPad and it is a game changer. My field of work in education requires a lot of stylus annotated work and drawing.
