I've put in references to my other books before, but this is the first time I've dropped a hint that a character was *reading* one of them. Makes me feel like Stephen King or something. 😃

https://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2019-03/cshv-csg032019.phpInteresting research, IMO. Direct quote from the article:"In almost every world region for which we have data, moralizing gods tended to follow, not precede, increases in social complexity." Even more so, standardized rituals tended on average to appear hundreds of years before gods who cared about human morality.Paper is in _Nature_: http://dx.doi.org/10.1038/s41586-019-1043-4 (or use your favorite Sci-Hub mirror for access 😃)

@icedquinn Pretty much. When you see a successful revolt, it's always good to look for the ones bankrolling it. And then you can start asking why they think they'll be better off.

@gunner Favorite hobby: Worldbuilding, creating cultures, languages, histories, etc. (doesn't even have to be for a story, but most of them are).Nostalgia trigger: Chiptunes and pixel art, because I'm old.Growing up: I wanted to be a doctor until I realized how dirty I'd have to get. Now: Author and programmer trying to make something of either of those.

When I saw somebody post "Notre Dame is on fire", I seriously thought it was a college sports joke at first. Then I remembered that nobody on the fediverse cares about college sports.

On a serious note, seeing an architectural wonder like Notre Dame fall to something as mundane as fire, rather than a more "modern" catastrophe such as terrorism, is humbling in its own way. A building that has stood for centuries, surviving war, revolution, and insurrection, and all we can do is watch it burn.In the past, we wouldn't have had even that much, but I almost wonder if it would be better to only hear about it after the fact.

I spent over an hour yesterday setting up scheduled posts for book releases on Patreon. It felt like half that was formatting, because they can't give you anything but point and click for that. Just let me use Markdown, if nothing else. It worked for the books themselves, so why not the announcements for them?
