Are you saying that a whole bunch of normal Germans woke up one day and all independently decided that they hate Jews, and that tonight was the night they were gonna break some windows? @angristanThere are inherent dangers in taking a neutral stance towards the specific kind of garbage to which gab is dedicated. You have an opportunity given your position, to help quarantine what can best be understood as an attack on society in general, and the fedi specifically. @jsGab users have other accounts where they are exposed to other ideas. The chances of you changing their mind in an environment where they are ideologically 'protected' by their fellows is... low. Further, if not everyone has the time, energy or inclination to debate 100 nazis in the hope to convince one. Best to quarantine them, and if you want to go persuade them, you can make an alt over there.

@jsAlso, it has to be said that as you are convincing some nazis they are wrong, they may be converting someone else to their ideas. They chose the fediverse as their new home, because they believe they can exploit its architecture to expand their audience and spread their hate. They would not do that if they were afraid of their users all being 'healed'. Shut them out and they will wither.

@cySomething that really helped me was volunteering. I linked up with a local mutual aid group, and did a few hours, twice a week feeding and clothing hungry/unhoused neighbors. It helped me feel good and useful, and I made friends with a few cool people.
