@jacethechicken Oh wow. My mother often says malaphorisms (didn't even know this was a word!!) when she is distracted. The results are always hilarious :DFor example, we have following two sayings in Portuguese: "he who goes to sea gets ready on land" and "don't go into the woods without a rope". The meaning is basically the same, so she swaps words and ends up saying "don't go to sea without a rope" and "he who goes into the woods gets ready on land".

This is downtown Lisbon right now. Empty streets. No one is outside despite the fairly warm winter. This is how we drive back the epidemic when our hospitals are on the brink of collapse.Does it suck? Certainly.But please consider:- Would our kids rather have formal education or living parents?- Would we rather have a fancy hairdo for 2 weeks or properly functioning lungs for the next 40 years?- Would we trade the availability of lifesaving surgeries for a party with friends?

@jz @galaxis That discussion there is terrible. That's the point when I started disliking Signal.I installed Signal recently because of two people who wouldn't use anything else, but I just convinced one of them to set up XMPP over Matrix (iOS user and all XMPP clients we tried are 💩).Gaaaawd I wish there was something like Conversations on iOS!
