Either the White House doc is a lying sack of shit, or taxpayers have been pissing away money for decades. We do MRIs of the abdomen to look for specific cancers, or evaluate the common bile duct, but it is not a routine study, and certainly not a normal part of a yearly physical at any age. We use MRI to image the heart to work up cardiomyopathy — failing heart muscle —, but otherwise it is not a typical way to look at the heart. It is never routine.

In case you or your neighbor or family member is considering not vaccinating a kiddo, please take this into consideration:When a child is in my ER at 2 am with fussiness and a fever, and we can’t identify a cause, the next step heavily depends on whether they are vaccinated or not. If they are vaccinated, risk is low. If not, we start talking about doing lumbar punctures, blood cultures, and other invasive tests, because they are at risk of meningitis and other serious infections.

Look, I’m sure there is a totally reasonable explanation for a married guy like Trump to have been hanging out on private islands with three of the most well known serial pedophiles in the last decade of news. It’s not these guys, who raped children on their private islands, would have been child rapid while Trump was there, or would have made any gross comments about children, or otherwise indicated that they were child rapists. If someone is shot in front of you, first of all, seek cover. If it is safe to render aid, your first order of business is hemorrhage control. Bleeding extremity? Tourniquet now, re-asses later. Extremity wound you can’t tourniquet? Wound packing. Chest, abdomen,or neck wound? Chest seal/occlusive dressing. The key to combat medicine is speed. Act decisively, then get the casualty out of the hot/warm zone and to somewhere you can re-assess them.

If you want to be able to help people with asthma/reactive airway conditions who can’t breathe after tear gas, Primatene Mist inhalers are available over-the-counter and are better than nothing. If you want to stop extremity hemorrhage, read up on CAT tourniquet use, get some, and practice with them a bit (don’t tighten the windlass, or they won’t work as well next time). If you want to get irritant agents off of skin/eyes, use plain tap water, lots of it. Do NOT add anything to it.

If you want to treat cold injuries (frostbite), you need to know if you can get the patient off scene and into long-term warming. Do NOT thaw someone’s frozen hands/fingers if they are going to immediately freeze them again. Repeated freezing causes far more injury. Wrap frozen fingers/toes in a clean dressing, and protect them. For warming, use lukewarm water or body heat if possible. Hot air can cause burns if you aren’t VERY careful. Rewarming is extremely painful. Be ready.

So guys, I see people saying “time to buy a gun”.No the fuck it isn’t. It is time to go learn how to use one. Then buy a safe. Then buy a gun if you want one. Your likelihood of being killed or injured by a firearm is markedly higher if you have one jn your home. You are more likely to be killed by your own firearm than you are to protect yourself with it. Your kids can be injured. Someone can steal it and use it in a crime. Firearms aren’t something you forget under a pillow.
