       @thenewoil Never could understand how Signal’s requirement to have a phone number correlates with their stance that signal is “anonymous”. Requiring a phone number, easily correlated to an individual, is a fundamental flaw in their design.

Sure, perhaps it’s obscured from other users, but I think most are more concerned with government/corporate/man-in-the-middle surveillance. And b) raises the question, why is signal so committed to tracking its users’ phone numbers?

       @thenewoil Firstly, l would say that popularity is not a good indication in support of technical implementation. Secondly, I was early on the Signal bandwagon, when it was essentially the only option available for encrypted messages. But the landscape has changed. I prefer Session as it includes anonymity, but I agree that Signal is still very good. The fact that it requires a phone number that can be tracked back to you (& those you msg) is an obviously unnecessary risk, imo.

       @shaman I’m in Thailand right now & I don’t know where this photo was taken & will grant that they do use banana leaf as a replacement for some things we would use plastic for (plates being another example), but I *guarantee* you these pouches containing vegetables are placed into small plastic bags and then placed in larger (probably plastic) bags with other items before being handed to the customer. The level of plastic use here is astonishing and recycling is almost completely non-existent.

       @jaj0_0 Please stop marking your posts as “sensitive”. It requires a tap to get through every single post, which is ridiculous. I would say anyone that finds a photo of a coffee cup with a heart to be sensitive probably shouldn’t follow your account.

       @raccoon @darnell The Last of Us series seems very good so far. Probably the best video game to (any) screen adaptation I’ve seen. There are a few changes but it charts pretty close to the original script.

       @pixelfed I hope each of these notifications will be opt-in from the app. If I get one notification I don’t want/expect from an app, I disable all notifications. Too many apps abuse the notification system. For example, I likely want notifications for comments and DMs but probably want the rest off. 👍
