“Up to zero bunching” for a feminine hygiene product.Look; I have zero input on the product - but what in hell are you paying your marketing team for? You can not have “up to” zero. You can have “as little as” or “as low as” or “down to”. You can’t start from negative bunching and move up to no bunching. How about I pay you “up to no money”? Implying the norm is paying negative money.

Can you imagine the lambasting Apple people would do if this UI was shipping on a Linux distro?https://mastodon.social/@siracusa/115180226560719360"Well what do you expect, it's Linux, the UI for common controls is always wonky, so inconsistent; amateurs over there."Honestly; neither design nor quality have been strong suits for Apple software in *many* years. And yeah, some Apple people really should revisit their assumptions. The world has changed. Apple has rotted, MS has gone weird, and Linux keeps improving.

You can still hear the same arguments from Apple people "we like The Apple Way, you can tell native *feel*, and it's just so much better..."Can you? Native feel huh. Really? Still? In 2025?True in 2005. Have you actually noticed the increasingly bad shit-show of inconsistent, user-hostile, buggy design and implementation in Apple's stuff though? It's not just Liquid Glass, it's everywhere, and has been for years.

"Oh, and is Linux any better quality Matt?"For some stuff yeah, for some stuff no. But you know what Linux *is*?Open, with many options, and constantly improving.Don't like a thing? Try another version. Have an issue - your bug reports are more likely to be listened to and acted on for open source stuff than for Apple. At least you'll get a reply.

What in the ever loving hell is THIS that just popped up on my machine?WHAT is asking for permission? WHAT program does this dialog belong to?I can not stress this enough - I was doing NOTHING at the time this popped up.This *screams* bad-actor program or phishing attack:- No details on the trigger event- No details about what program called it- Non-native window and controlsWilling to bet, therefor, it's some Adobe cloud bullshit I never wanted - but... no. Just no. All of the no.

Lol! Work are chcnging our Adobe licenses - and so, apparently, this has been triggered. Remotely somehow.Abysmal UI design. Communicates absolutely nothing.

@zeldman I'd want to know more about their methodology of collecting "employee data" - because sure you can manipulate and scam your way into that list, if it's just "current employees". You fire or lay off the employees that don't sufficiently lick the boot. Leaving only compliant ones.As demonstrated not just by numerous tech companies over recent years, but also by the US Gov.

Apple have screwed up my personal local collection of music for the last time.Anyone have recommendations for open source iTunes like application for osx and Linux that won’t auto-fuck-up my content with “Apple style magical” metadata screw ups?

Hilariously - on iOS - I redownloaded Doppler, and had it import the stuff in Apple Music. It imported my library: and it is displaying my albums properly as far as I can tell.Though I am still left with missing tracks from albums that Apple FUCKING DELETED. Because Apple didn’t have rights for them. My own, ripped from my CDs tracks. That I no longer have my CDs of. Or even a drive to rip CDs from.Assholes.

@vkc Counterpoint: I have been exposed to a *vastly* broader set of people, cultures, viewpoints, ideas, music, and lifestyles than I would ever have had a chance to without social media. It’s not all downsides.

@xaetacore @Saorsa On the topic of politics - I have largely given up debating it for now. And largely decided that this situation we're in is inevitable and - generally - blameless. Systems do what they do as emergent properties, and they feedback - we're headed for much worse before it can get better IMO, because we've mostly gone past how our politicial systems can be steered by those not in power. Influence got concentrated by those in power again. All governing systems end this way.

@xaetacore @Saorsa (To be clear - I will still vote, and I will still do what I can with the system as it is; but I don't expect anything to meaningfully change until there's - essentially - revolution or war to force the issues. We're very close to past the point of self-regulating democracy, because the systems of democracy have largely been hijacked. Gerrymandering, ancient politicians, etc etc. It's become defective and cancerous - hence... extreme nationalism as last resort for control)

Perhaps "getting more attention than the average person" combined with "people don't see a person in a stranger's post" is a core problem. Social media can create that combination. It sucks when you get a large audience's attention, who don't have a real connection with you, aren't thinking about you as a person; and you get to see all the many examples of people behaving in the same ways "at" you. It's draining.I love the benefits, as long as I'm not popular.@xaetacore @vkc @Saorsa

@Saorsa Yeah. I think "what you can do" that's effective to maintain your quality of life changes with the different levels of engagement you're subjected to. But it blows really hard that simply being yourself can attract a crowd large enough that the only effective methods of not being driven nuts is to either become a sociopath or to treat platforms as post-only. @xaetacore @vkc

@zeldman No. Clearly. Which is why she's as she is, and why she's been unable to repeat success.

@zeldman As a consumer: I’ll be the judge of that. This is such an arrogant / ignorant take IMO.Life happens at 1x; but that’s why we have people experience the same events and get different things from it. Exactly because people don’t experience the same thing in the same way. This is why some kids pay no attention at school. It’s too damn slow for them. Or too damned fast. The lesson is still valuable though; you just failed to communicate well. (1/2)

This year I seem to be incapable of drinking a hot drink while it is warm. Here's how the scene seems to go, every time, with what in my head are 5min intervals...- Too hot- Too hot- Too hot- I had a drink, huh? Oh, it's cold. Nah.- *splutter on unexpectedly cold coffee*

You may be wondering: why would a YouTube video about solar power be having *this* happen in the comments, and have 1.8 million views in 2 days?Better go watch it, I guess!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtQ9nt2ZeGM
