       @kev There's also the argument that when people are choosing an instance they are trying to find one that will most likely stay around. Something run by the founder of Mastodon has a good chance of staying around. Like email I think the more important thing is that the little instances are on a even playing field with the big instances.

       @stux it would be interested to add a trusted federated sign up process where when one server closes registration the admin can appoint trusted secondary sites to redirect users to instead of just kicking them over to the main mastodon site.

       @stux Many of us were sold that the fediverse is like email. Imagine if a email service blocked emailing gmail because of privacy concerns. This seems like the wrong play to me.
