The main concern seems to be radiation exposure. Besides that: optical detectors happen to detect smouldering (I.e. beginning) fires faster than ionisation detectors. There really is no good reason to use an ionisation detector over an optical one in most cases.

@stux pretty smooth when I load it in safari on my iPhone 14 Pro. Some stutters during the first seconds though, seems like some stuff was still loading.

@foone Heh. I need to clean my trackball anyways. The tracking is optical but the bearings do get smudgy and mess with the rolling resistance.
