@Alienated53 @statmonkey @StillIRise1963 Agreed it’s wise to remember the court has never really been looking out for ordinary Americans, but I think there was at least a narrative of improvement that kept pressure on it to slowly (agonizingly slowly) get better. Which is why, I think, conservatives have gone after even the aspiration to impartiality. This is true not only of the Supreme Court.

@Alienated53 @statmonkey @StillIRise1963 And as I just posted, the project did begin in earnest with Reagan and has worsened since. But the public perception hasn’t caught up … they think the narrative still has an effect.

The GOP has been systematically and openly building an oligarchy since at least the time of Reagan. Forty years. Law by law, brick by brick, concession by concession. We are now in the end game unless something major happens. The only real national power I see us having is the power of the strike. #generalstrike
