#Capitalism is the #dictatorship of the capitalist class - Ben Norton @thegrayzone and thus a rule of the majority, by the minority.

This is really a great #opensource initiative. #Insulin is so much needed, but it is for that reason made expensive by #bigpharma.https://openinsulin.orgIf an alternative, open way of producing insulin doses could be found, many lives across the world'd be saved in a direct, tangible way.#medicine

@globalist @thegrayzone How is freedom and minority rule compatible?

@globalist @thegrayzone You're right. Majority rule can also be a mob rule, whereas a minority could theoretically impose a utopia on everyone, giving way for indulging one's passion. Yet isn't an individual always also a part of everyone? Thus, by "being ruled" by everyone, an individual's actually ruled by no one in particular, thus they've much more everyday individual freedom, because power's decentralized in the hands of so many, that there's no single power greater than any one part of it?

@globalist @thegrayzone > hierarchical structure is natural...What does "natural" mean tho? Even in nature you can have cases of a cat helping a squirrel, or a bear helping a bird... are these occurrences not perfectly natural as well?As such the exercise of dominance seems to me depends on pure "will", that is a choice, which depends on a certain strength of character, or one's conviction...?

Those interested in #free #opensource operating systems may be keen on this #eink powered operating system for #mobile called MuditaOS. It has an optimized low-refresh rate and is based on #FreeRTOS.https://github.com/mudita/MuditaOS

So many self-hosted #blogging platforms still don't have a dark mode for their editor it's embarassing: neither #WordPress, nor Ghost offer dark mode with a white font in this day and age. It really gives them the air of a previous, bygone era.

@BetaBoyTV Since Mastodon is by design a highly decentralized service, @Gargron has designed it so that as a user, you always have robust tools to block/report inappropriate users. Individual server administrators also have their own rules and tools to ban someone who behaves inappropriately. However, if an admin of some instance (server) does allow users you find offensive, that is their choice.Others can, and be assured will, simply blacklist them.

@Gargron Suspending @thegrayzone@mastodon.social should also be considered a pretty big moderation mistake. It's an important alternative opinion site. Let's not play Wikipedia here.

@nathan Are liberals welcome tho? How about neocons? Just asking, because you sure do seem to happily repeat their talking points without knowing nothing much about the subject at hand...

The Verge inexplicably writes:"While there is a way to talk to people and get at content on different instances, it’s nowhere near as simple as having to manage a single account on Twitter.com and being able to @ any public user."Eh... it's exactly about that simple...? You do, after all, only need one account on #Mastodon to access all other accounts. Literally.

@realWedgeAntilles Very true. I guess my expectation was that 'journalists' should really be able to simplify and explain the whole concept clearly to their audiences, instead of just writing in a confused manner about it themselves...

@fraying That's not the only reason. The reason is capitalism and the investor profit motive. Jack was seen as simply not growing fast enough, compared to Zuck at the time.Still, your point is well taken.

@QasimRashid Well, yes, but the problem is that gated communities and exclusive resorts allow the rich to separate themselves from the rest of society and never even be face-to-face with these problems.

That *new* #birdside feature, which says ''more tweets'' under someone's post, and displays completely unrelated content from others under someone specific tweet, making them look like replies, is really annoying!

@kimzetter divulging the details of your technology to an all-seeing, all-knowing being, does not seem like a good move here."The #Oracle name comes from a database project (named "Oracle") that the company had worked on for the #CIA as contractors. Interestingly, Ellison has said that Oracle's very first customer was the CIA."
