I see a part-time salaryman, making ends meet, always passing through the same metro hallways, to the point where he lives in his own world, and is on autopilot. One day he's off again to work, and he realizes that the hallway never ends. The film explores the character, who on one side is wondering whether he's in purgatory, or in his own head, or literally just in the middle of his daily grind, where he simply imagines what if he was stuck in that hallway every day he went to work. Less horror, more Tarkovsky.

The Unstable SMP collective and videos are really something new, that simply could not have existed in any other form before.Collaborative storytelling is absolutely fascinating.

The way it incorporates game mechanics and newly created machines into the narrative is something I love. In films, you have to either assume the audience understands enough, or just "magic", but given the Minecraft background of viewers, and the visible nature of mechanisms, you don't need to explain anything. Viewers can simply assume a way a machine works, or analyze and build it themselves just by looking at it.

IMO the emergent mechanics of Minecraft are incredible. Normal developers would have patched them outright immediately as bugs (and Microsoft did, with Bedrock). But in Java, you have orbital strike cannons, TNT dupers, stasis chambers, flying machines, chunk loaders, chunk regeneration, tunnel boring machines, chunk bans and so much more. They all modify game mechanics.None of these were ever intended to exist. Modifying game mechanics in such ways is an instant critical bug. Moreover, it's a bug that's purely caused by lazy/dumb programming that just happens to cover all possible circumstances, rather than sanitizing. For example, there's no reason why enderpearls should ever not despawn if a player logs out. Yet they persist. Nor should withers destroy unbreakable blocks just because they collide with them when they're looking away. And yet they do.

The entire path of the full Hokkaido Shinkansen is on OpenStreetMaps.https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=16/41.90769/140.63715I used to look at Google Maps to try to piece together its path and tunnels, so it's the first time I've seen it in full.

I know I ought to be disturbed that students get hooked up with IVs with amino acids to help them study. But somehow the idea of a classroom filled with students, with IVs hanging from the ceiling, cramming notebooks into their heads fascinates me. When willpower nor strength alone is not enough.https://worldcrunch.com/culture-society/in-china-students-hooked-to-iv-drips-of-amino-acids-to-improve-performance/

It's interesting how primitive video on Linux is. You cannot connect to a V4L2 device while something else is using it.Pipewire should fix it, but that requires every single program to use it. Firefox does support it... on paper. But it won't use it.
