@foone My Prusa MK3 lists a maximum bed temperature of 130C, and it takes at most 72C to cook an egg.

@foone I'm not getting a VR headset until the Valve Deckard drops. However many years from now it may be.I'll make an exception if an open source device produced by a cooperatively owned and managed company drops before then. Might even compromise on that second criterion if it takes long enough.

I want a "Bluetooth lock" option on my phone, where I can prevent it from switching to other paired devices automatically when I've already got it connected to something.

Sometimes I'm overwhelmed by how awash in "compute" we are. People are literally throwing it away. I have more than I know what to do with myself, and I still struggle to refrain from buying cheap mini PCs from the local e-waste recyclers just to save them from destruction. Feels perverse that we spend so much in the way of energy and resources and then just... chuck it all into the bin after a few years.

Knock on wood, I've fixed the last of the problems from my recent home network rebuild.

"My experience at Google drove me to want to understand capitalism, and I would eventually find in Malatesta the answer as to why capital owners cannot help but be cruel, revel in cruelty, performatively broadcast cruelty; why the cruelty is indeed almost a side effect, a corollary to what it means to do capitalism."https://wordsmith.social/elilla/deep-in-mordor-where-the-shadows-lie-dystopian-stories-of-my-time-as-a-googler

I appreciate that this "Best of ELO" CD I got at the secondhand store today includes the names of the albums each track is from. Not something I've seen much from those sorts of compilations.

I've got a problem where I want to shore up the "human web," but my brain can't settle on a shape for a solution. I start out thinking "web of trust, but better somehow," then "could this just be a network of TLS-signed blogrolls?" And then "what about secure communication away from crawlers and AI bros? Should there be a private network/walled garden attached to this somehow?"I probably don't know exactly the problem I'm trying to solve. Seems to be several overlapping ones.

@vidak I worry also that maybe I'm over-inclined toward technical solutions where they may not be appropriate because that's where my skillset lies. Maybe I'm approaching the problem all wrong because I'm positioned wrong?I dunno. Can't really get anywhere without struggling with this in one way or another, anyway.

Two mugs I pulled from the kiln this morning. (This post also doubles as a test of the alt-text code I just added to my copy of masto9.) #pottery

@oppen Yup. If it's not on your own hardware, it can be taken from you quite easily!

Reading "The Geometry of Musical Rhythm," and in the first few pages I've learned that one of my go-to palm-muting patterns back in my teens and twenties is called the tresillo pattern and dates back to at *least* 13th century Baghdad. It goes "ONE-two-three-FOUR-five-six-SEVEN-eight," annotated as a list of inter-onset intervals as [3-3-2].

#Looptober, day 21. Due to time constraints, I decided to just record a little guitar noodling over canned drums and some keys.
