@misty lately it feels like musk is just acting really jealous of social media "sysops" from back in the day, and is doing all the things they did, or wish he did... while not really acknowledging he's doing it with one of the oldest, most established social media website there is.

so in October Gmail started rejecting mail from unauthorized senders (https://blog.google/products/gmail/gmail-security-authentication-spam-protection/) and let me tell you there's a LOT of MAJOR (and minor) companies that are not getting their messages in people's inboxes because they don't have those DKIM records set up. also pretty much anything that will "email" something on your behalf, using your own email in the From header, is getting blocked by Gmail rn.

@ashten @natalie @Drand also thought this was fun from his website bio. sounds like wired chose him from a field of many for some elite list, right? nope. it's a list of people nominating their friends and colleagues. wired has little to do with it besides printing the text. seems like this bold fighter of disinfo doesn't mind stretching the truth a bit when it comes to their own career.

the funniest thing about the arbitrary mass hatred towards all journalists on here is you'll go look at an account that is doing it and they're all going off on their various beefs and presenting facts about them, with links, all of which of course wouldn't have been possible WITHOUT A JOURNALIST.

imagine the tech industry actually coming up with a good name for something ever, tbh. i cannot. voice assistants named after women. online stores that are spins on racist jokes. they can only reliably call things "foo" and "bar," and beyond that the tech brain is just an output of trash. takes one to know one too btw.

if Threads is able to embrace, extend, and extinguish Mastodon and/or moreso ActivityPub, then the whole idea has basically failed. the protocol was not decentralized or open enough. it won't fail though. i sometimes feel like I'm the most jaded person on here, but have a little faith. this is what a moral panic looks like tbh.
