@XSFleaBaggage @quinta @mmasnick it wouldn't just be about the fine in the EU. If Musk considered the fine worth it, and carried on in the same way, Twitter could end up banned/blocked. That would be much worse for Musk's finances.

@Caitoz the west are not the ones engaging in nuclear brinkmanship. The west does not have its media and people in power proposing use of nuclear weapons.Whereas Russia is the one who has brought up the use of their weapons. Putin has brought them up.In the face of that, what exactly is the rest of the world supposed to do? Roll over and do whatever Russia demands?

@freemo @kinyutaka @marq @Litzz11 @georgetakei a very simple response to this - the UK had a school shooting at Dunblane 27 years ago. We put in place restrictive gun ownership very shortly after. There has not been a school shooting since.You can talk about statistics as much as you like, but the USA is the only country in the world that behaves like it does. Gun ownership is seen as more important than the lives of children

@JoeGrowling @Geri @ChrisMayLA6 I don't think it's a lack of understanding. It's a lack of consequences. If all of those arrested sue the police and win in court, what's the actual outcome? They'll each get a couple of grand in compensation, and every single officer involved will carry on as they did before.So, in effect, stamping on freedom of expression is just a cost of doing business for the police. Especially as it will have pleased the govt.

With the media so obsessed with the eventual "waste" from green energy production - end of life solar panels, turbine blades, batteries etc, wouldn't it be great if they provided context?There are 9000 oil tanker ships on the planet. 10s of thousands of petrol trucks. 10s of thousands of petrol stations. 10s of thousands of miles of pipeline.All of which are environmentally damaging to dispose of.Yet, never discussed in the media. For all the constant attacks on the "woke" by the extremist right, we have to remember they are just a very loud minority who happen to have bought and control the media.Most of the people buy into the language of calling people "woke" actually agree with liberal/moderate values. They've just been convinced that there's a bunch of people who are somehow more extreme for wanting human rights, etc...#Politics

I find it outrageous and incredibly offensive how often subtitles are censored. I've experienced it on broadcast TV. On Amazon. On YouTube. And elsewhere. Deaf people do not need swear words hidden. Those of us with hearing loss don't suddenly decide, "Ah, yes, because I can't hear fully, I don't want to experience swearing anymore."Stop censoring our content!#Subtitles #ClosedCaption #Censorship

@bouriquet @cjwatson @skruffl the biggest difference with trains and planes is that in an emergency, a train can stop pretty quickly and emergency services can get there quickly too. Not so much with a plane.
