Never saw the appeal of that site. The layout alone is a bit of a pain.

Yeah, people don't really put effort into this sort of stuff anymore. I just tried the surf / #suckless #browser because of that.

Tried out GNU #Taler (had to install Firefox). Hated Paypal for a long time and wish Taler was finished up.

There really is no sane online payment processor. I never buy things online because of that.

Man, are you really going to call people hateful over their preference in a partner.

I think it's a particular demographic of impressionable people combined with sensationalist articles on security exploits.

If Mastodon is dropping Ostatus support, maybe admins of other instances could change to Pleroma? Or !GNUSocial supports ActivityPub? I like GNUSocial and don't wanna switch off.

Don't think they actually believe what they're writing. Just cheap clickbait for quick money.

I wish people said the same thing about videos. Everything has to be on some kind of platform these days.

It really depends on the video length and changes per frame, but you can generally have 720p videos below 50 MB e.g 3 minute music videos are sometimes just 20 MB. To contrast a single document file as a .pdf or .html should be around the kilobytes. But people illicitly host entire anime OVAs on their own via torrent (which can still be playstreamed like YouTube just not in a browser). Technically the video quality is even better, supports multiple audio streams, and subtitle tracks, there's no transcode for web players (which are extremely limited compared to real video players), and there's no split swarms and workarounds from the fact web browsers don't support udp either.

I think about it on occasion since I wanted to accept tips for my hobby art and writing. But I didn't like how some places were getting deplatformed one way or another because of controversy. So I avoided giving Patreon or anything that uses #Paypal any kind of custom. That pretty much nulls every option of accepting tips online.

It seems to be a subproject of #gnunethttps://gnunet.org/en/index.html which I wish was entirely done already. I had some fun playing with the #Taler demo, but I wasn't sure how wallet-to-wallet transactions (true registrationfree transactions) were done.

Ok, that's good. I didn't want to lose contact with the instances that were using #Mastodon.

Wish I could use #GPG / #PGP without having to give personal information. Plus none of the guides are clear about the information I'm sharing in the process of generating a key.
