@FranGershwing I think the thing that frustrates me the most is that he really needed therapy, but instead of helping him, his therapist affirmed a messed up fantasy that he was born in the wrong body. I doubt she'll do a good job helping him with all of his real issues because they'll both probably continue to focus on this. "Gender affirming" therapists are actively ruining so many people's lives. Telling someone that they're something they're not, something their mental illness led them to believe they are, should be considered an illegal practice that endangers lives. Therapists that do this should have their license revoked. Its like telling a schizophrenic person that the voices they hear are real and they should do what they say.

@AnneBevan If he didn't troon out and he actually got treated for his mental health issues I'm sure he could've found a boyfriend and had a healthy relationship eventually. He's never even been in a real relationship before, and he's ruining his chances by transing.

I had covid and had a tough time but I'm alright now. Cost an arm and a leg to get the asthma medication I needed when I needed it, was nearly impossible because doctors wouldn't see me while I had covid, but they also wouldn't prescribe me asthma meds without seeing me first! Almost ended up in the ER (which would've cost even more because I don't have access to healthcare here yet). Thanks so much Canada ðŸ˜

@Hollahollara It was a situation that was made complex by me a) not having prescription history in Canada and b) needing nebules for my nebulizer which is apparently way less commonly prescribed in Canada and c) doctors hearing asthma + covid and immediately writing it off as something that is severe and needs an in-person evaluation. I used maple health if you've heard of it but I had to try 3 or 4 times before I could get a doctor to give me a prescription and he made me promise to see him in person after I got over covid (which I did) and that cost even more money. Total shit show, in the US urgent cares take covid patients so I would've been able to walk-in.

@HebrideanHecate I never thought I'd be in a position where I'm panicking because I'll have to wait in some huge line at the ER and pay thousands just to get basic asthma meds. Thankfully I'm fully recovered, I got covid at the start of January and I was down for the count for that whole month.

@HebrideanHecate My issue is that it seems Quebec's laws regarding covid and how doctors should go about treating it seems to leave no choices for immigrants without healthcare other than the ER, regardless of the severity of their case. There's one doctor's clinic that does treat immigrants free of charge, but not if you're covid positive, and they were closed for the holidays when I got covid anyways lol.I called the health helpline for the province and they apologized and said my only option other than the ER was to call every doctor in the area one by one asking them if they'll take a covid patient after hours, because there's a few that do but no one knows which ones. I didn't have time for that, I needed help asap. Its crazy they would leave loopholes like this for people to fall through the cracks!

@Hollahollara Yeah, I definitely needed it. I was using it bare minimum twice a day for the majority of the time I was sick but once I managed to get prescribed prednisone I improved a lot and only needed it once and a while. I was really hoping my experience would match a lot of other people's and my asthma wouldn't be effected but it was. I got it at the start of January and suspect I probably had one of the more recent variants but who knows.My wife doesn't have asthma that we know of and she also had classic respiratory symptoms and a pretty bad cough that lasted for weeks after we'd recovered from the initial sickness. Her cough presented in a way that was very asthma-like, I guess doctors are calling it "temporary asthma" when this happens after covid because its a little different than just a cough that lingers.

@ChasingWaterfalls I've noticed this for me, too, but most of the time the dude does actually end up having a trans identity if I talk to him, and has shitty misogynist beliefs about "gender," and then I don't feel any regret for clocking him as what he is. Half the time even if he turns out to be a normie effeminate gay guy, he'll still have shitty sexist beliefs about this stuff and support trans bs. I think in light of all this stuff we have to realize that our feelings make sense. A lot of guys that are drawn to women's clothing are the classic crossdresser stereotype that loathes women and gets off on feeling degraded by wearing our clothes. If we see a man wearing something feminine and internally cringe at first because it reminds us of all this we need to be gentle with ourselves, because yes rarely its a man just innocently wearing whatever he wants, but the majority of the time its not.

when my ex-friend trooned out he drew a dino that was trans flag colors wearing makeup with a bunch of martinis floating around it, and made it his profile pic. his alcoholism was so bad at one point he could've easily died, but one of the pillars of trans identity is making the most fucked up things about yourself into something cutesy and fun so you can convince yourself your only actual issue is gender identity.

@slytherinhermit @Piss_Ant I'll be honest, I don't know a ton about Bari Weiss other than that she dated Kate Mckinnon in college lol. My wife seems to be more knowledgeable about her and said she's kinda neolib and compared her to Katie Herzog. But I listened to the podcast and its good. The way its slowly ramping up makes me think it'll successfully bring a lot of people that weren't fully aware up to speed on trans bs and how cult-like it all is.

@ninapaley they're intentionally building up the background for what's happening now, especially for people that might not be drawing the parallels between evangelicals and the trans movement and how they respond to a perceived threat. I think by episode 4 or 5 it'll get really interesting.
