@fatboy weird, I'm sure Musk's think tank is smarter than me but I guess I thought that the reason there's no unified platform for those things outside China is because there's a multitude of different platforms available that do those respective things better.Facebook is kind of a comparable agglomeration and (I believe) it's haemorrhaging actual users as they become disenchanted with the corporate behemoth.

@mike yeah my optometrist says this is in my future. I haven't really noticed it yet, but the last time I had my prescription updated my guy said my near sight is starting to deteriorate.

@kzimmermann @silhouette I used KDE for several years as a daily driver, presently prefer xfce on virtual machines.I've somehow lost interest in trying all the things.

@fatboy death spiral is probably the wrong word, but I'd like to think that facebook's best days are behind them.With every passing year they'll get less benefit from the network effect, and will compete more and more on value offerings to users. If I can talk to my friends and still have some privacy, why would I use facebook?

@clay Oof. I haven't seen any of that kind of thing on fosstodon. I didn't realise it was that precious. We only talk about linux distros 😜 Maybe I'll try espousing my views on transgender sport and see what happens.

@thelinuxcast maybe unintended? Like a bug in the fedora package, not removing some dependency from upstream.I'm def not an expert in package management and this type of thing really takes the fun out of trying all the things. These days I just stay in my lane with default apps mostly
