@helby @redstarfish Depends on where one draws the line. Right now, we do have computers where all the designs (except individual IC's) are free. And it's fully possible to run on 100% free software already, including firmware. There is of course the matter of computing power in relationship to non-free solutions though.Personally I'm fine with anything that is RYF certified at the moment and look forward to something that is also OSHW in the near future. I guess my next computer when the one I have now fails will be OSHW.

@redstarfish @helby We're starting to get really good alternatives for open hardware, mnt reform is certainly a good option for instance, It's nearly fully blob free and has an OSHWA certification.

Unfortunately I doubt the protests will have much effect on the long term assimilation of HK into mainland china. I don't really like it, but HK was doomed when it was decided it would be handed over to PROC.

@clacke Yeah, it was unfortunately a pretty problematic diplomatic situation in the first place.

@gemlog @clacke Ironically, the original convention dictating the lease and return of HK is in a museum in Taipei.

@liaizon @cb @msh @strypey I don't think CWs are inherently anti-features. I do however think that how they are implemented and used now is problematic. Part of the problem is that there is no access control over posts. And that the technical implementation of CWs is badly designed.Another problem is of course that CW is not implemented coherently across the fediverse. Friendica has an inherently different way of dealing with self-censuring in posts which doesn't translate well to how mastodon does it.I think this is an important discussion that needs to be made by fediverse developers.

I think we need to be able to relax and spend time on other things as well. Especially after participating protests or other activist activities. It takes time and energy to engage in these issues in a more active way. We need to just continue with our lives as well as a sort of self care. We need a bit of escapism, but we also just need to continue our daily lives and keep society going as it is.

@wolf480pl @norikawa @strypey That's not having a government is it?That begs the question, how do we ensure there is no government? And wouldn't that method also resolve other forms of violence?

@strypeyContent Warning: re-contextualization of racist statuesThe best way to re-contextualize them would be to pull them down and then put up a new statue of some famous anti-racist with a plaque mentioning the act of tearing down the old statue and the problems of the previous statue. But then again we can all read about the atrocities of the past in history books. We don't need to remind those that are currently still oppressed of how oppressed their ancestor were or still are for that matter.Just leaving them up with a plaque mentioning how bad they are is problematic in so many ways. Also many famous anti-racists deserves to be commemorated. Just replace them. That signals the heroism of the many historical and currently living persons that have fought against racism. As for the tactics of addressing their ignorance, putting up a plaque on an existing statue of a racist is not very effective. Tearing down a statue is directly working at addressing their ignorance. These statues have given them enough food for their ignorance through all the years they have been left standing. Even a plaque mentioning this could become a symbol that could feed that ignorance.

@quad @loke @error_1202 There are dialects of Swedish that also preserves the three genders. There are probably Danish dialects doing the same, though I don't know that.
