@HerraBRE I don't know what I'd do if I had to use proprietary software. I suppose if libre and FOSS didn't exist I wouldn't know any better, but I'm so glad we have it. Not just for my personal preference and philosophy, but as an alternative for people in many situations where they don't even have the option to play that proprietary game.

@kelbot @gamehawk @GoatsLive It's insane. They finally reduced the period of time before the 4th they're allowed to be sold to a few days beforehand, which helped. You legally can't shoot them until the 3rd but of course that is ignored.

@codesections I don't know anything about Comcast since they aren't in my area, but I can tell you that I hate AT&T with the burning passion of a thousand suns. When I set up service for my mom a few years ago, the reps were high-pressure and deliberately misleading. After a series of nightmare interactions I wound up canceling it (costing me $$) and going with another provider (Cox), which was far more customer-friendly.

@chriswere Thanks for bringing my attention to this. I haven't been keeping up with things like I used to, so this reinforces my confidence in LinuxMint as my distro, which I switched to from Ubuntu years ago.The main issue I would have with going to the LMDE version would be giving up PPAs (which unless something has changed is only available on Ubuntu-based distros). There are several pkgs I always want to have the latest version of, seamlessly delivered along with the other updates.

@louis @calculsoberic @sergeant One difference that's important to me would be that if they are blocked/defederated, they can't interact with or retrieve my posts via ActivityPub, so they can't include them in their servers' timelines next to their ads and propaganda.That's different from just being able to scrape our posts.
