@strypey but that means I have to be on top of every issue all the time, or let the issue-specific lunatics overrule me in everything.I actually thought that was what I sent an MP to parliament for, to be on top of the issues and know what their electorate wanted.(I know in the real world, thats so funny, hahaha, but, honestly, I have a dayjob already. @strypey What I *would* like to see (and I realise you are in .nz and I am in .au and you have that interesting proportional system already, so its different...)is an MP elected on the basis of "these 10K (pick a number) people voted for me" not "the most people in this electorate voted for me".(Lots of details to be worked out. Does it need to be "you can only vote for people within (pick a number) 1000km of you"?)but _actual_ representation!

@strypey we've got a projector, so we actually get very close to the cinema experience at home.But I noticed while booking when we recently actually went to the movies recently (first time since you know!) that the cinemas are now MUCH smaller, like 40-50 seats and there were a LOT more of these much smaller cinemas (good seats, too, very comfy armchairs!)

@drahardja @be interesting - i was working on business systems that were medium old and had been coded with the classic “if year > 21 1900+year else 2000 + year” and reading your post i just realised that year has finally passed! And *man* the y2k fixes were tedious and boring!But they surely replaced those systems by now. Right? RIGHT. Lol :)

@strypey @pre the ownership , and history of same, of the trademark seems a little odd - while it appears to be owned by a profit, it seems its actually owned by Matt (i dunno, im just repeating goss., to reflect your original question of “why are people doing this?”Matt does seem a little more litigious than you would hope for the owner of a no profit.His complaint that WP engine doesn’t use an unaltered wordpress product, when wordpress.com also doesn’t offer an unaltered product, seems strange, and requiring anyone who logs in to wordpress.org(?) to state they have no connection with wp engine seems waaaaaay over the top! :(

@futurebird @josh0 saw a recent vid which said that we don’t know where the words dog, bird and boy, among others, come from. They think they slipped out of some regional dialect during the dark ages. How can we not know that???
