       @stanford Indeed, and it took a bit of effort to wrap my head around the Docker docu to make it work via Podman. It can run with a standard Posgresql container by the way, but you need to pass an mostly undocumented env variable with the database host-name to the #Akkoma container to make it work as otherwise it refuses to start if it can't find "db".

       @muppeth @selea that and general discontent over making mastodon.social the default instance on the official iOS app.But IHMO if you see nothing wrong with considering a centralised app store the primary discovery method for your decentralised social network, than you really have bigger issues than a pre-configured default instance on that one optional app in the centralised app store.

But yeah, actually making this is another story all together.There are however two recent projects that have similar goals:Moxxy https://moxxy.org/ (currently Android only, but it uses Flutter which is cross-platform), and Prose https://prose.org/ (not yet released, but should come later this year). #xmpp #jabber #moxxy #prose

       @ilja @duponin it's fairly easy to set up a modern #IRCv3 server with https://ergo.chat and indeed you can run a #xmpp and matrix gateway for it. I run such a 3-way hybrid chat network on https://irc.f-hub.org

       So what are we trying to do here on outmo.de ? Well, for once it is just setting up an #akkoma instance that we would like to use ourselves, thus the goal isn't to grow this server to a big size.Another primary goal is to develop and show-case an instance that is tightly integrated with #xmpp chat as we think private chat is a natural complement to a micro-blogging website.To this extend, we are going to look into integrating either #conversejs or #jsxc into a akkoma-fe soft-fork for easy use. Guest access via a #xmpp-web client is also being considered.We would also like to offer a #slidge XMPP gateway to people contributing to the operation of this website and might also provide some other complementary cloud services to donators.So lets join forces to outmode the old centralized web :nkoHype:

       Spend the last couple of days finalizing the setup of a #Peertube instance with Garage object storage on https://video.f-hub.org ! Quite complex but working well now. Only remaining works are GPU acceleration of video transcoding and making the #XMPP based live-chat accessible via federation.
