       Since joining Mastodon I don’t really use birdsite anymore, and my desire to log on to birdsite has plummeted. I still feel like there are cool industry professionals on birdsite worth following, like in infosec or what not... but I no longer feel like birdsite is a space where I would want to have discussions about tech topics etc. In fact it can be quite a toxic environment with retweet added nasty comments. I’m very close to deleting my account as it seems purposeless these days. Thoughts?

       OpenSource is turning into a game of monopoly. Who am I kidding. The tech industry has always been a game of monopoly. Sometimes it feels like we can’t even make it past Go to collect $200 and survive the next round... Being the little guy sucks.

       Sometimes Mastodon seems like a bit of a circlejerk. So many people preaching and amening to each other, but go to another platform where the majority of the masses are and it's pretty silent around these same topics. /showerthoughts

       Does anyone know of a Mastodon bot that tells what the moon is doing, e.g, ‘The moon is currently waxing/waning, next full moon is nth-date’? Perhaps I’ll make one if there isn’t one #moonbot

       In #2019 I hope to escape from the endless amounts of useless noise and focus on things that I find more meaningful. For me that means receiving less sensory input that tells me how I should think and feel, or that makes me feel worse than before. In 2018 I took up the practice of journaling and found that it helped immensely with processing my thoughts, and in 2019 I want to take up meditation and focus on being a kinder and more positive version of myself🧘‍♀️ .

       Oh god. Just moved to my new place in a neighbourhood filled with security screens and my windows don’t even have fly screens. A bee just flew into my room. At night. While I am trying to study with my citronella oil to ward off the mosquitoes. Ugggghhh and no I can’t just close the window friend I live in the land of eternal thongs and singlets .__. .—.

       One of the coolest things about being in tech at this point in history is that we're basically alive at the same time as the fore-founders, e.g. it would be like being a mathematics major and getting to be alive at the same time as Einstein declaring E=mc2 or something. Not many specialised fields can experience that! :D
